North American Wild Card Moto-Tag Game

New tag: A geographical location in your home state that is the "something" point in your state. Could be the highest or lowest elevation, northermost, southernmost, most stinkiest... Well, not stinkiest, otherwise Michigan would be easy - go to Owosso. You get the idea. For your perusal, this...

North American Wild Card Moto-Tag Game

Grab. A fire engine with bonuses: Bonus 1: I'm in the picture because the Battalion Chief came over and offered to take a few pictures of me with the bike with the fire engine in the background. (Having the Battalion Chief take the picture is the bonus - not having me in it.) Bonus 2: The fire...

Tech Day XXVI - August 26, 2023 in Marysville, OH

We will have a shim kit there, so no need to get one (unless you really want your own, of course). Coolant? Yes. Thermostat? Normally I'd say no but it sounds like you need to replace it, so, sure! Gaskets? Yes, especially the o-rings on the coolant pipe. The Brain Trust usually has some, but if...

Tech Day XXVI - August 26, 2023 in Marysville, OH

Hi, Dan! I see you're in Central Ohio - welcome! Forks are no big deal - we've done many of 'em. I'll ask one of the Brain Trust to pop in and help with the list 'O seals you'll need. I don't know if the Iron Pony will have them in stock or not but you can definitely get your fork oil from...

Tech Day XXVI - August 26, 2023 in Marysville, OH

After skipping our usual spring Tech Day this year (life and ****, ya know?), it's time once again for the best-damned midwest FJR Tech Day EVER! Edition #26 will be in sunny, beautiful, Marysville, Ohio, and will be hosted by me and Sooze, which means that I'll open the garage doors and Sooze...

Stumble off idle after tank removal

When it stalls, what happens when you open the gas cap? I am wondering if the vent line to the gas tank got twisted / kinked / crimped. Also, dumb question - how much gas is in the tank? When my tank has come off, I try to run it as low on gas as possible to make the empty-ish tank easier to carry.

FJRForum Official 2023 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

I think you're on to something. I was wondering why a few trackers stopped here in little-old Marysville at the White Castle. Looking at the scores for a few of the front-runners after Leg 1, White Castle is G5. It will be interesting to see the bingo listing once this is all wrapped up. And...

FJRForum Official 2023 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

Gotchya. I was wondering what happens / happened to the rider responsible for the social media posts. But for that rider who left his flag behind ... most of his leg 1 efforts gone? OUCH!

FJRForum Official 2023 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

Out of curiosity, what would the consequences be for that rider? A severe tongue-lashing? Point penalty? Public humiliation? Disqualification? Assuming that that rider makes it to the finish, being obligated to wear a dunce cap at the finishers banquet and having to sit in a corner? Or...

Are you gonna go, Mike? I'm thinking aboot heading over Thursday after work and hanging out in parking lot, probably late into the night to see who rolls in.

Now that we are mere minutes away from the start, I feel the need to share this video. No, not me. I have much better legs.

    Trooper Mod

Same here. That is still the setup I have on my FJR and I have had that arrangement for ... oh ... I dunno .... ~ 80K miles or so? Something like that.

North American Wild Card Moto-Tag Game

Grab. A community swimming pool. New tag: a boat ramp.

    CCT

The Brain Trust replaced the CCT on my '04 at Tech Day back in 2011. I don't remember what my mileage was back then but it was prolly somewhere around 75K miles. It had a bit of chatter on the right side of the engine (where the CCT is) before the replacement. It's been quiet ever since. Here...

    Hello from Indiana

Welcome from central Ohio! Keep an eye on the Midwest Regional section - we'll be hosting a Tech Day in the fall. Evansville isn't too far from Marysville (especially on a FJR).

FOUND - WTB: Zumo 550/450 Motorcycle cradle

I have a couple of spare cradles. Over the summer, I migrated to a Zumo XT. So I guess I actually have 3 cradles - 1 NIB, never used; one that I used on my Harley that I sold several years ago (so, the cradle is used but worked when I took it off the bike); and the one that was on the FJR -...
