    Electrical connectors

For what it's worth, I've bought all of my wires, connectors, etc at a Marine (the boat kind) supply house. I figured if it's good enough for that environment it'll work for Matilda - and it has so far!

A couple of very specific questions about adding heated grips

I've had the Dual Stars on my 05 for about 4 years now and it's the best $30 I've spent on the bike. One suggestion, if I were to do it again, I would wrap the clutch side with some tape to insulate between the metal bar and the grip heater. The metal on that side does suck up some of the heat...

    Catholics & a Jew having a coffee

Too much! That's right, I said it, toooooo much. But, she does look smart!

    FJR service tools

I use a small floor jack with a 9" square piece of 1/8" aluminum on top - under the headers. Just make sure you don't jack it up too much!

    Happy Birthday Marines

No, the artillery battalion 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, not VMFA 112 - same Marine Corps!

    Happy Birthday Marines

Happy Birthday to my brother and sister Marines. Intech, I was in 1/12 when you were in H&MS 24. I just got back Saturday from Hawaii on business. Visited Kaneohe - looks pretty much the same except for more housing and now the rustpickers share the base! Semper Fi.

Your custom saddle: Leather or Vinyl?

I've had my Rick Mayer for almost 4 years now and am still happy I picked leather. Biggest benefit is no monkey butt since the day I put the saddles on the bike. They look great and are easy to care for. If I ever buy another saddle it'll be leather too.

    ARMY PCS decal question

Almost, you keep your sticker when you retire if you like.

How could I have been so irresponsible?

Hairspray, extra hold. So far it has lasted 3+years. Sometimes simple works. Then again, sometimes it doesn't!

    Forks Collapsed!!!

I replaced my front springs with single rate Race Pro springs. Our (05) EOM springs are variable rate and they are smaller at either end. The springs came with larger washer to account for the difference. This guy just didn't put in the necessary washer - live and learn, too bad he learned at...

Finally Happened -- Bike = Dead (Coma?)

Thanks for asking. I think I said I checked as many connectors and put dielectric grease in 'em. Bought a new battery but haven't put it in yet. Ol Matilda has worked perfectly since the day she miraculously came back to life! I have about 900 miles on her so far without even a burp. Might be...

    FJR and BMW 1300

I have a buddy at work who bought one about 3 months ago. Just so you know BMW isn't immune from problems, his keeps stalling at odd times. They've tried various fixes and he still has the problem. This is apparently not limited to his.

    Room up for grabs

Grumpy, no need for a sales pitch. Lorie and I did visit the one time and we both liked the area very much. Housing was off though. Seemed like you could buy a 3000+ sq ft house or a 1200 sq ft house, but those in-between were hard to find. At least it was in short stops to two real estate...

    Room up for grabs

Due to a family matter Lorie and I will miss EOM this year. I have a room reserved and will be happy to turn it over to anyone who needs it. Jim

    A different ignition problem.

Brazos Parker sent me the link to this thread - thanks Mike! Since leaving the bike for a week (vacation) she lights up every time I turn the key. Rode 4.2 miles around the block the other day and no problem. Wiggle the wires and the key - no loss of power. Can't think of what else might be...

Electrical Problem that went away (lurking no doubt)

Original post here: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=120631 To recap: 2 miles from home engine died while sitting at a light -- gauges remained on -- engine started right up. Later that day, engine died a few minutes after starting -- gauges remained on -- engine started...

Finally Happened -- Bike = Dead (Coma?)

Okay, new info to add. Bike died on Thursday and we left for vacation on Saturday. Walked in the door half an hour ago, emptied the car and then tried the bike ----- everything lit up like new! So, bike sat for 8 days and now seems to be ok. By ok that means I'll check connections, in...

Tyler down in serious condition in Idaho!

That's what I said so I looked it up: A pluot (plü-ot) is a tradename for a fruit developed in the late 20th century by Floyd Zaiger.[1] In the United States, the fruit is known by most regulatory agencies as an interspecific plum[2]. It is a complex cross hybrid of plum and apricot, being ¾...
