03 with 1.0 front srpings - Feels heavy turning

I think you're on the right track. When MamaYama brought the '03 FJR to the U.S., the Euro FJR had stiffer (more supportive) suspension -- some different part #s for better, Euro, parts. The '03 was way overly soft (for the American market?) and was described as such by magazine testers...

    Phoenix Area FJR Service

Well..., it certainly seems that, for some, "the system is broken"...? If the system, overall, were so broken -- why would anyone buy a Y.E.S. policy? (that'd be 'just asking for trouble'... :( )

    Passing rednecks in the country

My story (non-motorcycle): Passed by a vehicle and forced off the pavement onto the road shoulder with some vehicle damage (enough to need towing). I sued the perpetrator (and his Ins. Co.) in small claims court. I came alone and he came with support (including a para-legal) -- I called my Ins...

    Looking to Buy a WheelDock

+ 1 ^^^ Condor I have the trailer only chock mounted on a m/c air lift table and it's one of the best things I've ever gotten. I saw it demo'ed at a m/c show and that cinched it for me -- had to have one. (glad I did) To O.P. -- if your trailer is an enclosed one, 2X4s fastened to the floor...

    Well, that was strange...

Insurance Means -- No Consequences Just do whatever-the-hell you feel like -- it'll be paid for by the insurance company. If you're lucky, you may even come out ahead on the deal...?!

It's like any other profession -- a trained motorcycle repair technician need not have seen your FJR (or any FJR) in order to perform proper maintenance and repair. They have the requisite skills, the FSM -- there's no magic (it's just machinery and parts). One of the benefits of dealership...

    Clueless salesman

Sad but too true ^^^. Some more shrewd on the showroom floor will just keep quiet... :( BUT, once -- when the new R-1 came out (with the cross-plane crank) and I had some time to kill -- I walked into a local Yamaha shop and the young sales guy (they're all young...) asked if he could help...

    FJR / BMW Indecision

Figures I got: BMW -- 504 lbs. FJR -- 581 lbs. Really...? (you'd think the BMW's 110 hp v/s the FJR's 145 hp would play into that...? ) 'course they're all just numbers... ;) Well..., we all ride what we like, anyway... ;)

    Bridgestone BT 023 GT Update

Did you purposely choose to not run the "GT" version (a tire designed/built specifically for bikes like the FJR) -- or, was it unavailable to you?

    FJR / BMW Indecision

    A little smaller truck than the FJR: BMW -- 88 lb/ft @ 6K RPM FJR -- 92.5 lb/ft @ 6K RPM (so much for twin-cylinder torque advantage...)

Fuel Economy and Smoothness without Compromise

From a Franz Hofmann paper: "The single biggest robber of engine efficiency is the simple throttle! As an example, in a large 7 liter engine, each cylinder is almost one liter in size. With the throttle almost closed, (and with the engine intake manifold vacuum at 18" HG, or approximately 62%...

Seeing more and more Motorcycles out on the road

My local Triumph dealer says he has sizeable/serious deposits on 16 Tiger 800s that he may not be able to fill with 2011 models -- may need to wait for 2012 production? ...The pendulum swings...

    Lost a Dealer

With Yamaha's PDP -- your $500 deposit goes into the dealer's parts account with MamaYama (Cypress). So, the importer/distributor is involved with your deposit. I'd like to think that -- no matter what happens to the dealer -- Yamaha knows where your money is (and, you can get it back)?
