Don, try swapping #1 and #2 injectors. If it's the injector, trouble will move with it. If it doesn't, take a look at the wiring harness for #2. Ok. I just noticed that you already changed the injector. So - (and you've probably already done this) take a close look at the wiring.

As I recently learned from experience, (not my bike) a loose engine mount bolt can cause a low rpm rattle very similar to the sound of a loose cam chain. Just for grins, check torque on your upper and lower engine mount bolts. And let's not even mention the shifting problems associated...

We have a winner. Over time they will rust together - and become very difficult to remove. As in try removing the u-joint from the tranny output shaft when it's rusted on. You really want to have all those splines lubricated.

Hmmm........ check the pins in the ECM connector as well as the ECM socket - they can drift back and lose contact. The inability to access the CO screen makes me think this. Or there might be a dirt clod lodged in there from that road to your house.....also check for errant deer hairs.

I;ve checked and adjusted valves on a total of 6 FJR's. They tend to tighten up over time, which can result in burned valves. When I find a valve that needs to be shimmed, I adjust the other valves on that cam to the 70th percentile give or take. I've shimmed as many as 9 valves out of 16...

try using a ty wrap or velcro, or just a wrapped bunji cord to hold the clutch lever in overnight. This will allow any small bubbles to float out. Every time I bleed the clutch on an FJR, I use this technique.

There's hope. I now actually have some vacation time accrued - I just have to get a kitchen pass. Vacations have been very sparse since 2008 - things are looking up.

I'm assuming those measurements are standard, not metric. I've adjusted valves on 6 different fjr engines - and all but one had a tight E4-2. They all required shimming. Mileages were between 53k and 125k. As you are pulling the cam to do this, you may as well shim the others as close to...
