Penguin is back on two wheels, at last.

Thanks. I was very uneasy about it, especially since my crash was due to not seeing a curb between the on ramp and the unlit freeway, in the dark. But..... this was late Saturday night. The bike shop is closed Sun and Mon. Andy doesn't get off work until after the store closes on weekdays...

Penguin is back on two wheels, at last.

With the low frame, I have exactly the same reach as I had on the FJR, which is the points of both toes down at the same time. The difference is in the weight and the distribution of it. It's no big deal to lean the bike over a little to get a whole toe down, or even a flat foot. This bike...

Penguin is back on two wheels, at last.

Next week, it will be six months since my get-off. I'm walking unaided almost all of the time now, and able to play around with riding a dirt bike. It was definitely time to get back onto asphalt. My BMW F700GS was ordered in December and just came in, late Saturday. I had to wait all this...

FJR Meet at "THE LOOKOUT" on Ortega Highway

The new bike is a BMW F700GS. It's replacing my totaled G650GS as well as my FJR. With great sadness, I finally admitted that the big bike was too tall and heavy for me to enjoy. This new bike is a nice compromise. I got the low frame version which allows me to touch the points of my toes to...

FJR Meet at "THE LOOKOUT" on Ortega Highway

The new bike arrived late Saturday. I'll post up more details when I get home but it's definitely a keeper. Had lots of fun with it Sunday then used it for work yesterday and today. Lots of hooligan potential! It's zippy and not too heavy, easy to lean into turns. The throttle is...

Lol! Richard doesn't admit to liking anyone. He will insult anyone and everyone. Aargh! What a guy to have for a brother in law!

FJR Meet at "THE LOOKOUT" on Ortega Highway

No word on the new bike yet. I was hoping it would be here by today. So it looks like we're out. But there's still a glimmer of hope..... It might just get here tomorrow.

That's the one. She's getting officially hooked up with her derby buddy. The bought a house together about a year ago, with a yard big enough to store lots and lots of cars.

    My 2013 FJR has arrived.....

Cool! You don't actually have to own / ride a dirt bike to participate in the camp fire drinking and story telling. We have three more trips planned this season. Mid March (which includes the Johnny 80s family), and of March and mid April. Love to see you out there.

    My 2013 FJR has arrived.....

If you get a truck with a gun rack, you will also need a big dog. And perhaps a cowboy hat. Can't wait to see the pix. What are you planning to do with a truck? Get a dirt bike and come out to the desert with us?

Jury-Duty Observations from Juror No. 7

Called twice. Served twice and was foreman the second time. First was a bender bender where the 'victim' was going to need weekly chiropractic treatments for the rest of her life. Her expert witness was the chiropractor who would be paid for said treatments. When the evidence was all weighed...

FJR Meet at "THE LOOKOUT" on Ortega Highway

If....... and it's a big IF, I have my bike by then....... It was supposed to arrive in New York from Bremerhaven yesterday. Has to get off the container ship and then to the dealership in Orange. The guys at Irv Seaver estimate about ten days, so it's possible. Then I have to learn to ride...

Gathering of the Clans! When and Where?

Look forward to seeing you again Joseph. It's been too long. Of course, we will be parked in the back lot since we're riding non-FJRs.

Have the terms and rules changed with regards to vulgarity?

Wow! Four pages already? Must have touched a nerve or two here. I wonder if it has to do with the average age of the participants here is that when one is supposed to play the role of a sensible, mature adult. Since most of us don't feel anywhere near that age (despite the lie on the driver's...

Goodbye FJR. Time to move on.

I'm pleased to hear that the lighting is improved. That as one of the biggest faults with the G650. Most of my riding was either urban, in daylight or behind Andy who has PIAA lights on his GS. I came undone on an unlit, unfamiliar freeway that was a diversion in my commute. On delivery, the...

I was going to 'Like' the fact that it wasn't you *THIS* time but I've used up all today's likes. So I will settle for wishing you a very Happy Birthday and many more of them to come.
