Who's mounted large HID Ballasts on a Gen II?

Some good ideas there, Iggy. Thanks. I hadn't even thought of some of those spots, probably because I was trying to avoid taking the nose apart. It sounds like that might be a worthwhile endeavor in order to find a good hiding spot within the high voltage cable's reach of the lamp. In the glove...

Who's mounted large HID Ballasts on a Gen II?

So I scored a set of Hella Micro DE Xenon driving lights last week and I've been attempting to install them on my '06. Problem is, they came with full-size ballasts (approx. 4.5"x4.5"x1"). I was able to mount the left ballast inside the lower cowling, right behind the marker light housing. Can't...

Little things can make a BIG difference

Doesn't sound like the problem was your gloves. Sounds like the problem is the way you're negotiating your curves. Try this: scrub off your speed (using BOTH brakes, firmly and progressively) BEFORE you lean the bike and enter the curve. Then, as you lean the bike into the curve, you can have a...

    EZ Pass

That's what I use. I bought a RAM ball for the empty mirror mount on the left grip and use JJ Cycle Pass' model # KLE-016 to mount my EZ Pass (called I-Pass in Illinois) there.

    Throttle Tamer?

Like vroompuppy and fjrrider, I installed a G2 throttle tube and found it helped, but only somewhat. :( For me (and a WHOLE bunch of others), the addition of a PCIII smoothened out my throttle completely ! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Anyone know of any new 08"s anywhere?

Don't know of any new or low-mileage '08's around, but the last time I was at Rich's Yamaha in Lockport, they had a new '09 on the floor. That was a few weeks ago.

    GPS Viewing

I....and MANY other forum members...can assure you that a GPS designed specifically for motorcycle use, like the Garmin Zumo, is certainly a little pricier than others (okay, maybe a lot pricier), but once you use one, you'll wonder why you ever waited to get one and won't want to ride without...

Recently Discovered Feature on my FJR

If you continue to admire your reflection in your speedo while leaned over in a curve, I'm sure they'll show up :glare:

    Happy Birthday Silver Penguin!

Here I am, a day late and a dollar (actually 1800 of them) short! Any way, HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY, Jill! I hope you had a great day. I had two-50 gallon water heaters puke in my finished basement and spent yesterday cleaning up and replacing the units. My reward was an $1800 plumbing bill...

Givi Case, anything I should consider

I had a E52 on my '03 and often thought it was just a bit too big for me. I now have a V46, which is a more appropriate size, again, for me. Unfortunately, I don't get a chance to do a lot of long trips. If I did, I'd stick with the 52 or the new 55.

wickedslow, despite your good intentions, you may want to review Forum Guideline #10 ;) ...and yes, it's for real.

    2010 Yamaha FJR Intro

I have a feeling there's going to be a sudden resurgence in interest in any remaining '09 models still sitting in dealer showrooms

fjrchik goes down in Antler, OK

Very sorry to hear this news; glad it wasn't any worse than it was. Good thoughts to Michelle for a speedy recovery...with plenty of good drugs, as needed.

    Chicago / toll roads

You can always take I-39 south to I-80 east. Only one toll, where 80 becomes 80/94 (I think it's less than a buck, cash). You'll go just a few miles out of your way south on 39 to pick up 80, but will save TONS of time...and tolls...and frustration ;)

What's a still in the crate 2007 worth?

A dealer who doesn't know what year the freakin' bikes are!? REALLY!?!? Sounds like you better get a deal quick; I can't imagine a dealer like that being in business too long :no2: Did someone suggest (more than once) checking the VIN numbers? <_<

    laid bike down

Pat- You likely were not ready for her to mount the bike. Is it possible you didn't really have good solid flat-footed control of the bike as she was getting on? Sorry to hear about the mishap. Good suggestions by rablanch above.

    Holeshot Map

I've been running the one Dale provides for about 5000 miles. I just swapped my plugs out for iridiums and the original plugs were fine. Dale's map does richen the mix (as does most any other map); not necessarily too rich.
