Mr Bill, it seems the weather decides; try this: Mt Evans

    Monsterflow European Cut Cee Baileys

How is the noise level with these shields? I HATE wearing earplugs, but I don't want to go deaf either. :(

    Avon "a" Vs. "b"

Yep, my rear says A-VBD. Unfortunately, at 6,000 miles I'm nearing the wear bars at an alarming rate. That included one 2300 mile trip with a 145 pound load. The rest were solo day rides. I usually ride pretty conservatively, liking my good driving record (insurance rates). 42 lbs rear, using up...

    Pciii & Hazard Lights

The hazard switch is the one with the yellow triangle. You don't have one??

    Shaft Splines

I did my '04 at about 12k miles. Although there was a little grease, there were also small metal filings in the 'adjacent' grease. :(

Don't buy cheap tools. You'll get to cuss them for the rest of your life. :(

    Identify These Risers

Someone makes a 1 1/2" up and 1 3/4" back, but I don't remember who. Mine came with Heli's 3/4" up by 3/4" back. I mounted the Heli's to a piece of 3/4" alum bar stock, another 3/4" back. So I ended up with the 1 1/2 up by 1 3/4 back. I had to remove the clutch line clamp at the steering head to...

    Linkage To Ride Height Ratio

Going by memory only, it seems that the shock has about a 2 3/4" stroke. The rear suspension has about 5.5 IIRC. That's about a 2:1 ratio, by guess and by golly. :) If my guess is anywhere close, a one inch shorter shock will lower the rear 2 inches.

    Avon St Tire Mileage

Torch posted this elsewhere and I thought I add it here. Torch on tire pressure: quote: Take your front tire to 42psi. Take the rear one to 44psi. Go ride with your sweetie. Make it a long spirited ride. Immediately after the ride (like before she has time to climb off) measure the tire...

    Heat Issue, Observation And Comparison.

Mark: I put a round 2" piece of pipe insulation foam (used for insulating hot water heater pipes) inside the fairing, along the top 'shin edge'. It's about 2' long and pushed all the way foreward, almost to the hazard switch in panel A. I think the rectifier stopped further foreward movement...

    Chicken Strip Question

Since the FJR can safely drag its pegs, and you aren't; I wouldn't worry about the chicken strips. I've never dragged a peg (dang it) and have no chicken strip on the rear. Haven't looked at the front lately.

    Front Shimmy

The FJR wheels have a ridge for conventional hammer-on weights, so you have a choice.

    Windshield Nylon Screws

Blue Wing: Put yer windshield back on, this'll work. (some guys, however, like riding without their shields). Here's a 10-32 SAE nut on a 5 x 0.8mm plastic windshield screw. There is absolutely no friction. They're completely compatabile. If this pic works, it'll be a first. :o My...

    Overloaded

If ya got a Mrs; a trailer is probably inevitable. Can't go that fast enny way. I believe Mr. Warchild once posted that it's not the weight, it's dragging hard parts that's the problem. If ya ain't draggin'; ride on. This does NOT mean WC approves of ANY overloading. CRAP I hate liability...
