Take some ibuprofen before, during and after the ride. Stay well hydrated. Whenever you stop for more than a minute, get off the bike and walk, bend and stretch. Wear earplugs. Make sure you are warm ( or cool ) enough. And stay well hydrated. Cant stress that enough. Have fun.

Since you dont ride much your compromise may be adequate. But corrosion is more age than mileage dependent. Just ask the guy who couldnt remove his rear axel.

The idea of a master is relatively new. The point of a sync is to select a reference and match all others to it. Which one you choose as reference is irrelevant. Its more important that they are equal, rather than a specific value.

Despite testing good, the quits when warm leads me to think its a bad coil. I had a similar problem with a 82 Yamaha. Would start up fine but by the time I went around the block it had dropped a cylinder. Spent a lot of time pulling carbs, cleaning passages, etc., thinking it a a fuel...

With the 190-55 rear tire my bike is really unhappy at 2500 RPMs in 5th gear. ( Approx 55 MPH. ) I doubt it would pull 2500 RPMs with higher gearing.

I agree with Fred. Id like to add, that while ATF may be suitable for forks, I do not use it in my FJR. However I do use it in my XR650L.

Many of my bikes ( past and present ) have used ATF in the forks. ATF and fork oil share characteristics suitable for forks that are not common to most other types of oil.

My money would go to Traxxion Dynamics for their AK-20 fork upgrade. And Penske for the rear shock.

There are ways to lighten the steering: tire profile, air pressure, preload, fork height, etc. that dont require custom fabrication. JS
