You're right about the impact point. I inspected the rim a bit closer today and the casting is cracked (3" long) just beside the spoke. My wife just about passed out when I told what could have happened if the impact was between the spokes.......I should think before speaking next time :blink...

You just gave me an idea for a T-shirt! I can see this one will get a fair bit of use.

So far that puts the tire/rim damage count at 3, as a result of CFR. #1 - Me - Front rim damage with flat front en-route to CFR - Cube van required. #2 - CanadianFJR - Rear tire tear during CFR - Flat bed required #3 - FJRPierre - Rear flat en-route home from CFR - Trailer required...

I thought about straightening.....but I did that many years ago with a rim from another bike and the rim split 3 weeks later. Not sure I want to trust it anymore. For the cost of a new one (cheapest I found was $409), it would give me peace of mind.
