60 to 70 amps is normal. Anything above that indicates that there is a drag and is likely the starter. Replacing the starter is really not that bad a job. You have to remove the air box and throttle body. The first time I did it it took longer as I had to figure it out. The last time I did it...

It is a big job, but not terrible. EVERYTHING on the nose attaches to the stay. I sent my broken one to Garauld and he sent me a repaired one.

Good info. I never trust jack stands if I am going to be under a car. I use wood blocks. Positioned properly they will never collapse. I use them like jack stands jacking the car up to the a little above the desired height and then lowering onto the wood.

IMHO if you install a manual CCT you are just asking for trouble. The new CCT's that Yamaha provides will work for 100's of 1,000 miles. Why bother with something that adds unnecessary maintenance?
