    Eating at CFO

Hey, Why not? I plan on going up there more often than just the rally. Can only take so much corn and straight roads (Illinois). "The Hungry Peddler" was a pretty good meal too. If anyone knows of decent places to stay in the general area, please post up too. I plan on riding up in the next...

    Eating at CFO

I didn't make it there this year, but one year when my Dad and I were riding around Wisconsin, we stumbled upon a non discript little restaurant in **** Valley. We were actually looking for a rib joint that had gone belly up. Starving, we went down the road and stopped at what, from the outside...

    CFO rally accident

When Rick told us all the bad news; I, like most others in the room, thought "it could have just as easily been me". I'm sorry to hear you got so banged up. Broken ribs suck! Only time and some little pills will make them mend. I hate to see any rider get hurt, even more so when it's one of our...

    Home and all is Good

Thanks to everyone for a great time. I stopped at the grocery store and loaded up on some Wisc. beer, 36 to be precise. Then stopped at Carr Valley Cheese for more "souvenirs". Got near Savannah, IL. and had to pass a very loooong line of oh so slow Harleys at warp speed, 'cause they just...

That sounds like a good plan. I'll see you guys then.

Announcing the Rally Rallye 2011 Style

I'll do the rallye again, just can't sign up in a timely fashion 'cause it would ruin my reputation.

Announcing the Rally Rallye 2011 Style

I missed you at Moonshine Karl. We got there a little late, took some backroads that were flooded over higher than my footpegs. Some of the guys weren't as adventurous, so we had to turn around and reroute. :Snorkle:

Registration is Open for CFO 2011

Miss Information. Dated her once, nice girl, just not always very clear.

    BB1500

If someone made a farkle that would turn the FJR into a DRZ as soon as the front wheel went off road, life would be complete. Thanks for posting. I did 1127 miles in 18 hours last year, although fun, the time limit puts a damper on stopping to smell the roses along the way. Who knows what you...

Stereotype: FJR's are only for older fat people.

I've watched some of those old, fat FJR guys grind their pegs riding two up. My 17 year old son thought it was an old guys bike until he rode it and opened the throttle, now he wants one. Usually you can't afford a bike like this until you get older (and wiser) so the bike gets a reputation.

    Patriot's B-Day

Don't you people know that Mike doesn't have birthdays? He's an immortal. Or was that immoral that someone called him. I don't know, I was too busy hiding from the beer nazi. Happy Birthday, he who has the biggest horn.

    CFO 2011

Sweeeetness. Now the winter will seem to drag on forever. But at least I have another picture of Bust to add to the shrine I'm building in my basement to honor him. It's next to the to the pit where I keep my other "visitors".

Using bicycle pumps to fill up FJR tires

    And lots of masterbating.

    Jake Wilson/ Rocky Mountain ATV

I've been dealing with Rocky Mountain Atv and motorcycle for years. Their prices have always been decent, shipping fast and had great luck with their "off brand" called Tusk. Racing dirt bikes gets expensive, their prices made it a little less painful. They opened a street bike orientated...

Buying a Bike with 50K miles

I'm at 48,000 miles on my '05. No problems. I'm a bit anal about my maintenance, but hate paper work, so I don't really keep records. I write the date and mileage of the oil change on the filter and just watch that. I flush the brake and clutch fluid, anti-freeze, change rear diff fluid once a...

    First Impressions

I liked the PR 2s at first, but wore them out in under 7000 miles. The last few thousand handling really funky. Trying set of Shinkos, $195 to my door from Derby. Only a few hundred miles so far, but no complaints. I can go through corners faster on the V-Strom 650, but the FJR is so much nicer...

    WTB Datel Meter

Damn it. I find this thread after buying and installing the Datel. +1 on the don't bother with the expensive bezel. I bought one, but with careful cutting, didn't need it. Looks better without it too.

    Laminar Lip

Motorcycle consumer news said it didn't make much difference with the stock shield but a noticeable change with the bigger ones. I have the Yamaha larger shield and can vouch for it. I'm 6'3" and the lip helped a lot with helmet buffeting.

    Garauld (on this forum)

I love the muffler cones he makes, had 'em on for about a year. When I see an FJR without them, it looks unfinished. Just got a set of auxiliary driving light brackets from him. Same first rate quality, fit and finish. The guy is quite an asset to the FJR community.

Photos of my HID driving lights

That would be the hot side of the relay coil. So it gets connected to a switch or some other source of 12 volt power that you want to control the lights. A relay is nothing more than a set of contacts (or switch if you will) that turns power on and off to the load (in this case the lights). The...
