    HID Ballast Install

I had the larger ballasts in my second set of HIDs. I could not fit them anywhere but over the head. Both ballasts didn't hold up. If I were going to do it again, I'd get a THIRD set and stick them in the cowl under the headlights. Having said that, the ballasts may have failed regardless...

    New LED Aux lights

Hey Hudson, those lights look pretty nice! How hot do they get? I've played with those little LED lights without a heat sink, and MAN, they will start a fire! Just wondering how any fiberglass adjacent to the housing will hold up. EDIT: Joe at Vision X says the housing gets to 107C/225F max...

    Time to get a dremel.

Cord. Cordless Dremel is a worthless turd. No torque. Runs out of juice VERY fast. You can have mine if you want it, but I think I actually just threw it away. Of course I like to use my 100000 rpm air driven "dremel" whenever possible. Cuts teeth like butta.

AudioVox CC Install on an '06 AE

I don't think I'd worry too much about engine heat.... ....still going strong....

Radar Detector - Helmet Heads up display

I don't have a Shoei, but I do use the HARD system and like it a lot. I have my detector buried deep in the bike and the HARD keeps the setup stealthy. It works very well, too. And not uncomfortable at all in my Scorpion.

What Else is in Your Garage

This is the latest addition to my "garage": It's a 1942 Clark MILL-44 aircraft tug that was issued to the Army Air Corps in March of 1942. It served in the military through the early 50's. After that, it ended up in Muncie Indiana where it spent some 4 decades moving civilian planes on the...

Who has done it since they got back from SFO

I didn't go to SFO. But I haven't washed my bike since before NAFO. The next owner can wash it....

worse week in history - at emergency room right now

This week, I had a birthday. I love it when I have more birthdays. I bought a WWII aircraft tug to play with and restore. My driveway is getting paved. I finally found the D panel to my FJR, and bought a replacement ballast for my left HID. I found that my left wing can be easily repaired...

AE paddle shifter button bypass...the thing that keeps your button green

I did buy and install the module from DJSmith1000. Dunno if he's still selling them. His profile shows that he logged onto the board last night. My DJSmith shift enable module works beautifully. The paddle shifters are now always on in my smart car too, since a factory computer upgrade. Don't...

Mod to keep AE button shift activated on start up?

I installed this module on my AE soon after they were available. About 30K miles later, it works beautifully. I don't even remember installing it, so it must have been easy!

    Detector mounting

It works extremely well. Nothing but plastic up there, and plenty of clearance from the headlights. The signal gets in. Doesn't seem to be any less sensitive to me. The way I have it oriented, when I start the bike to warm it up, I can see the blue light flash as the Escort boots up. Too bad...

    Detector mounting

I took my 8500 out of it's housing, stuck it in a zip lock bag and velcroed the bag in the cowl under the headlights. I also use a HARD system in my helmet. My philisophy is that if you get lasered, you're already GOT. And I get so many falsies, I usually just turn laser off. If/when I get...

    status of TOTD

I was never gone! Just lurking for a long time. You know, after being on these boards for some 5 years, there ain't a whole lot that comes up new. Lots of drivel and jibing. But I still enjoy reading a lot of the threads. Yeah, hard to believe that I rode less than 100 miles for a whole...

    Share The Road

Well there you go! You don't HAVE to share your lane, especially if you don't feel comfortable or safe doing it. But at least you are willing to pull over and let others pass. That's the idea. You ride in your comfort zone and let's not try to screw each others enjoyment up. And above all, we...

    Grip Puppies...

I put grip puppies on before going to NAFO. They were back off before I got home. Feels like I'm trying to hold onto a beer can because they seem so large. They didn't help my numb hand issue. What did help my numb hand a lot was adjusting my suspension, per HaulinAshe's thread... even though...

    status of TOTD

Back in 2007, it seems there was a major enforcement action on the Dragon. Is that still going on? Are there still 10 - 15 cops waiting for any reason to stop vehicles on the Tail of the Dragon? I know the Dragon is quite a ways from JC, but we were contemplating going over there on Friday...
