You roll into the check point very near to closing time. Penalty points start accumulating after the checkpoint opens and you dnf after the checkpoint closes. Smart riders arrive before the checkpoint opens. Cameron was the mysterious SPOT #184 last night.

Think about the 4 corners vs capitals this way: 48 capitals X 100pts per capital = 4800 points = 4 corners I think there will be far more than 4800 points available from the capitals, so it would be better to invest those miles chasing capitals assuming that doing 4 corners and enough high...

Was there a relaxation of the penalty rules at the finish? I just looked at the scorecard of a rider I know came in after 7 and he doesn't have any penalty points. Edit - Would not have made a difference in the finish position, just curious.

Just put on a set of 021s, only got 45 communting miles (one day's worht) on them so far. I'll update after a few hundred miles.
