Yay! Finally got it. Finally figured out to unplug almost everything on that big wiring harness. It made enough room to get the cover seated. No adjustment needed, but that will be another problem for later down the road. Gp

Yes. I've been trying that. I attached the gasket with some permatex ultra black. The cam chains are pushing the gasket loose as I try to slide it in. Keep on trying and hope it slips in. GP

So, I'm assuming you do your own valve checks/adjustments yourself. It would make sense with the miles you rack up. Save you a small forturne. I watched a video of a guy showing how to do it. Looks very time consuming, but I might give it a try and hope I get everything back together right. Ha!

I guess the bottom line is I don't mind letting a good mechanic do it if I know I trust them. Every time I find one, they head for greener pastures. If someone here on the forum, that has good experience with it and wants to help me do it, I would consider it. DFW tech day?

I had them on My 2004, 2008, 2012, and my 2016. The newer ones you have to dremel a little nub down on the motorcycle mounting surface if you want them to sit flush with the bodywork. Not too difficult. If i can do it anyone can. Well worth it in my opinion. GP

Goodyear already owned Dunlop. Their purchase of Cooper (which owned Avon) spells major integration of product lines, brands, etc. This happened in 2021 so the news is old. In late 2022, Avon announced their tire plant in the UK will close sometime in 2023 (this year).

Yes. That was for 2022. Things have changed since then according to the article I read a few months ago. It said that Goodyear had bought them and are now in process of shutting them down in 2023. Look on all the sites online that sell Avons. Getting harder to find a set of Spirits for the FJR.
