70-80 MPH and over fish tail feeling

Sorry I haven't read all the comments here. I just wanted to note, I've had nearly every brand of tire on my bike at different times and every one has a slightly different feel to it. That is why most everyone here has a different opinion about tires. Everyone has their favorites and ones they...

    Front Rotor Problem

Had this issue twice on my 04. I went for many thousand miles the first time. I don't think it's so much a safety issue, as they're not going anywhere, but it can be annoying. Both times I got rotors off Ebay. As for the bolts they are loc-tited like Geezer said. What you need to get them loose...

2up on a FJR, multi day trips

If you have no trouble doing 500 mile days on an FZ6, you'll be just getting comfortable with an FJR. My wife and I have done several 8,000+ mile trips on my FJR and logged well over 100k miles total. There are so many little mods you can do to make it fit the two of you...one can't list them...

Anyone Know a good Goldwing Forum?

Best forum is https://www.gl1800riders.com as someone pointed out earlier. As for the earlier years, they are fine as long as the recall's for the frame was done. My 03 had the frame recall completed and the welds are very beefed up. We rode this bike to Alaska and back pulling a trailer, 12,561...

    2nd Gear Dog is worn?

When my 2004 started jumping out of gear more often it was followed by 4th gear, which was unusable. We were on a trip in Europe and rode the last thousand miles or so using 2nd sparingly and skipping over 4th and into 5th. I didn't even try to fix it. I just picked up another motor off Ebay...

    Video for HerFJR

Hey Mr Bill...keep practicing. You need to be in front first to use that technique. Next EOM is the next even year. Are you going to break the string and show up? Hope to see you there.

    Defective PR2

Send pictures and text to Michelin and ask for a reply. Also send pictures to NTSB, National Transportation Safety Board. They keep a record of manufactures defects. If they get enough complaints, they will institute a recall.

    EOM 2011 after action thread

Again, had a great time! The best part is the people...no mater the site. It's always like a family reunion seeing everyone again. Thanks to the organizers for all their hard work in making it happen! :drinks: The routes were really great...especially 66 and 63 in Tn. :fan_1:

    Video for HerFJR

Awesome video! :drinks: It had me clutching, shifting, braking and leaning in front of the monitor. I tried to pass but couldn't get any closer! Almost fell out of my chair trying! :fan_1:

    My very first EOM

Nope, Mr Bill is right. I only look that old, and I am, but not that old! Do you follow what I'm saying? That guy has a lot more hair on top and a very lot less under.

Changing a throttle cable on an 0

It is a pain to replace the throttle cables. I recently replaced the engine in my bike. I installed the throttle bodies before bolting in the engine. I was able to connect up the cables with them in place. It required some cursing and frustration, but I did it. I wouldn't pull the throttle...

05 cuts out under hard 2nd gear acelleration

I'm also with Howie on this one. This is exactly the symptoms I experienced with mine in the early stages of transmission problems. Mine did this intermittently for a year or so and got progressively worst. Eventually it ended with losing 4th gear and having to baby 2nd. We had the bike in...

    EOM '11

Good to hear from you guys! :drinks: I just made a reservation at the campground today. :) I got the new motor in a few days ago. I m waiting on a fork seal to arrive so I can put the front end back together. Once that's done I can finish putting the rest together and see how she runs...

    EOM '11

Hi all! I'm just coming back down to earth and realize I can make it to this years EMO...exciting! :yahoo: My wife and I have been in Thailand for the last six months, so I am just catching up. It looks like registration hasn't started...is this correct? I'm not to late to get in on it? We...

European tour July 20 -Oct 5

Well...The transmission! First a couple years ago I noticed a glitch, (felt like hitting the rev limiter) while accelerating hard away from a toll booth. This happened again some time later, (maybe 6 months?) Both times I thought it was the ignition cutting out. I later realized it was jumping...

European tour July 20 -Oct 5

We just returned from 2 1/2 months of touring Europe on the FJR with my wife as a passenger. We made a blog for our friends and family back home to follow if anyone is interested it's: johnandchristasblog.blogspot.com. There is a lot to read but there are some good pictures. I'm still a little...

    FJR Mileage Milestones

2004 with 115,000 hard miles. Just finishing 2 1/2 month European tour. Bike is coming back home to states. Unfortunetly it's got a bad gear box...missing 4th and second jumping in and out of gear under acceleration. Looking to replace the motor with one from ebay. It's easier than fixing the...
