    Hurricane Michael, a personal view...

Mold assessor came today, and after she consulted with the drying contractor, they are taking ALL of the drywall out. Some rooms had been judged for just the lower parts, where the floors were wet from rainwater wicking through the carpeting, but mold lady said ALL of it. Ceilings as well. She...

    Hurricane Michael, a personal view...

Progress report. I've got water mitigation people in the house, ripping up carpet, packing up the kitchen getting ready to demo it. They say I have category 3 water damage, which is apparently as bad as it gets. They're even going to rip up the sheet flooring, which I would probably not have...

    Hurricane Michael, a personal view...

Well, I got through the hurricane, but not without issue. I packed up my dog and three cats and rode it out at my office, which was a Good Thing. One corner of my roof is gone, the house is open to weather, carpets soaked, drywall wet, and in the garage, laundry room, master BR, and the HVAC...

Would you take on the project?

Sounds like a diagnostic teardown and the owner said, "Never mind, keep it." Cam chain cover and valve cover off makes me wonder about cam chain tensioner problems, in which case salvaging the bags, seats, grips, etc. might get you even. On the other hand, cam chain cover is how you expose the...

Time to give up my beloved StreetPilot 2820...

So I'm encountering map data issues more and more often lately somehow. I mean, the maps are only 10 years old!!!! The roads are older than that, what's the problem?? Well, not all the roads are older than that, especially around parts of my girlfriend's hometown of Orlando, where they've added...

2007 ABS front left caliper locked

Seals would be a good bet except that it releases with the bleed screw. That makes it hydraulic pressure not relieving, which probably makes it an ABS problem. Look here for Ionbeam's Most Excellent Post on checking and manually cycling the ABS system and see what happens.

no start.... please help if you can

That would be the "primary" pole of the ignition switch, the one that applies power to the bike. The "secondary" pole is what I was referring to, that carries the ground from the neutral/clutch-switch/sidestand-switch circuits to the ECU. Two different circuits, two different effects when...

no start.... please help if you can

Ignition switch is a very likely possibility, because it's a two-pole circuit. Two big wires are connected when the switch is on to power the bike, and two smaller wires are connected when the switch is on to complete the kickstand sensor circuit. If those don't connect, the bike thinks the...

    Audiovox or Rostra

Yep, I got the year wrong. I was thinking blue, though!!! The last Gen-I year was blue!!! Sorta just had the wrong blue one... :-) Still, most Gen-II CCS100 installs had some issue with the brake light line, and not just the guys with LED add-ons, or brake light flashers.

    Audiovox or Rostra

'07 is completely different wiring on the US models. First year of the Gen-II bikes, with the now-famous ground spiders. Apples and oranges, I guess, between UK and US for 2007. BTW, my CCS-100 has been on the bike for 11 trouble-free years! Bike's had other issues, but the cruise control has...

    Audiovox or Rostra

There is a significant difference in the CCS install between '06 and '07, namely the Gen-II brake lights need the isolating relay for the CCS's purple wire almost every time. For some reason the Gen-II brake light wire doesn't go all the way down to zero volts when the brakes are off, and any...

    Adverse weather riding

Just a note from seeing Geezer's post: check the state law for where you are on the use of flashers while under way. You're not gonna go to jail for it or anything, but it's not legal in a lot of states; flashing hazard lights are assumed to indicate a stationary hazard on or near the roadway.

    Who is this masked man?

So the bike made for that type of racing won. Surprise!!! He didn't always have the straightaway speed, but he went way deeper into the turns! That was kinda fun to watch!

    Technic for Waterproof Gloves?

Gloves turn to buckets when you put your hands down. Sleeves over, if possible, but be sure the elastic seals decently or the water blows up your arm.

    Fairing Removal

There's a Gen-I for this, too, for us fuddy-duddies that won't update our bikes... I even went back and fixed the pictures after Photobucket flipped us the bird.

    New toy! Miata!

The B ate head gaskets. The 2 and 3 holes were nearly microscopically close together.

Dad's MGB had that electric overdrive! I'd forgotten about that.
