Yes, I would say that the biggest flaw of the Gen 3+ (2013+) is the front stay, or subframe. I have no idea what Yamaha was thinking. Turn a minor tip-over into a major repair and clusterf***! Changing the stay is no trivial job. Fortunately, you can also repair them. Not an easy job...

I plan on going this route in the near future. Internal TPMS sensors with the 89 degree valve stems like I have on every one of my bikes. Only minor downside is only silver so I will paint them black myself. Sykik on Amazon

I can't recommend highly enough the Lee Parks Total Control clinic. A one day riding school done in a parking lot. It changed my life back in 2007 or so. After riding for many years, my skills finally quickly improved greatly after taking his class.

Sorry this took so long. I've been busy! Looks like the PO modified some of the OEM aluminum rear rack by shaving off some parts + minor modification to the bottom of the Smuggler. Even with some of the bracket material removed, they still seem stout.

Huh? I don't think I have ever seen anyone recommend 40psi for a car tire on an FJR. Most recommend 30 psi or so. I've run about 8 or so car tires on my FJR now for over 200k miles. I tend to run a little higher at 35 psi in general, but when I do that the center of the tire wears out...

I have run many sets of the Conti Motions. Ok tire. The good is how affordable they are. The bad is they don't last long. Handling was never an issue for me except for one time running them at a track day. After a while, the rear was loose as a goose accelerating out of corners. I guess...

Does your fuel pump still work? If so, count yourself lucky. I've dealt with two rusty gas tanks on FJRs in the past few years, an '04 and an '09, and on both the fuel pump was shot also. If your solution doesn't work I highly recommend EvapoRust.
