Best place to buy a watch?

World of Watches. I've bought a number of timepieces from them over the years and the services is first rate. BTW: they've got a really nice looking Tissot for $450.00 Tissot Men's T-Race Chronograph Black Ion Plated Stainless Steel

HFL: Why ******** Are Bad For Bikes

From "Hell for Leather": Why ******** are bad for bikes This is the best article I've ever read on the subject of moto-journalism and why we distrust the toilet paper disguised as a moto-mag anymore.

Has anyone ever upgraded their bags?

It's available as a special order through Twisted Throttle.

Has anyone ever upgraded their bags?

Givi makes a good side case rack for the FJR. It's the PLX357. Though it's designed for their V35 cases, I'm sure it can be modified to accommodate other bags too (even aluminum panniers...). However, you should check whether it can be installed independent of the SR357 top case rack or if they...

pipes are blue and so am I

Well, maybe not an FJR, but I've seen plenty of well-ridden sportsbikes with pipes that look exactly like that. In an earlier post you say this bike was previously owned by a doctor. That doesn't necessarily mean he was the proverbial little old lady that only rode it to church on Sundays. Yes...

Gen II Rear Suspension Bearing Lubrication

Timely discussion since I'm starting the rear-end tear-down this evening. Line item 18, "Rear suspension link pivots", are to be checked every 16K miles and "Apply lithium-soap-based grease lightly". The Swingarm pivot bearings (line item 9) on the other hand, do get repacked at 16K miles and...

    Magellan ToughCase

It was mounted in landscape orientation, and I did see a cable coming out of the bottom of the unit.(On the ToughCase website - "Specifications" tab, it does say "USB Port - Power Only", so I'm assuming that that was how the unit was being powered.) It has a headphone jack, but I'd think...

    Magellan ToughCase

I saw this mounted on a BMW R1200RT parked in front of a coffee shop this morning. For those of you with an iPhone that want to use it as your GPS, this is absolutely the way to go. Magellan ToughCase for iPhone

    Front fork oil?

FYI: The service manual for the Gen II states 92mm, though the Ohlins R&T43 is still the recommended oil. (I just installed Race Tech springs and went with Race Tech's US2 10wt on their recommendation. We'll see how that works...)

    BMW Concept Bike

No. That was the concept bike that was dragged around to the European shows a couple of years before the 1600 GT/GTL were announced. There's been some subsequent discussion of whether to produce a sportbike based on the i6/1600 mill, but - as I understand it, the market for such a bike is far...

    Ohlins or Penske?

I spoke with Ben @ GP this past week re.: Penske and Ohlins shock pricing. If not the group buy pricing (?), they're at least selling the Penske and Ohlins shocks to FJR Forum participants at 15% off current retail which is still better than any online discount shop I've found. Lead time is 2-3...

    Ohlins or Penske?

Does anyone happen to have a photo of the Penske 8983 reservoir mounted on their Gen II bike? (I've seen photos of it mounted on a Gen I.) Thanks!

    ******* awesome.....

Huh. Well that's interesting. I guess I hadn't made the connection that "Team Latus Motors Racing" (Jason DiSalvo on a Duc 848 in the #2 position at Daytona) is backed by George Latus, owner of the local Latus Harley Davidson dealership in Gladstone, OR (a Portland suburb). So, evidently, a...

Motus To Display Prototype at Daytona Bike Week

Point taken, but Pininfarina designed a Cadillac (the '86 Allante) and it didn't make that car less American, did it?
