    My GPS died

The hard reset only works if the touch screen will actually accept commands. Mine doesn't accept any touch commands anymore, and with the map update screen popping up, it will never default to the map page either.

    My GPS died

My touch screen on my Garmin died today, and I have no idea what people are using for GPS anymore. All I really ask is that it has a USB port, and audio out so I can use my XM puck. Any sugestions that won't break the bank? $650 seems a bit stiff for the Zumo 550.

Gen II Grounding Harness Recall Poll

My entire wiring harness was replaced under YES for a burnt ground spider. This happened before the recall came out tho. I installed a Brodie harness.

    Battery Tender Pro

Not riding daily, but I do try and get out on the weekends. I've been to busy with work and family matters to spend a lot of time on the bikes. I commute home with a co-worker, so the Jeep is the vehicle of choice for commuting. On the bright side, the XS is firing up right nice with the new...

    Battery Tender Pro

I wound up buying a new battery. The Battery Tender Pro charged the house battery without a hitch, so I suspect that the XS battery was about ready to give out on it's own. The XS fires up smartly in the mornings again.

    Battery Tender Pro

I've got a friend over at Yamaha giving it a charge on his shops $600 charger. I'll know Tuesday whether I'm replacing the battery, or the charger. At least I was able to make the Sierra/Calavaras/Mines/Hamilton loop today on the FJR.

    Battery Tender Pro

I'm more than a little miffed at the moment. Last night i connected my battery tender pro to the XS1100 to top off the battery. This morning when I went to start the bike, nothing. Not even power lights. The battery was 100% flat. Tonight I hooked up a different charger and nothing. Jump started...

    Mount Hamilton Ride 4-23-11

Don't look for me, but feel free to spare me a thought as you ride some of my favorite roads. I have the extreme pleasure of earning 1.5 x pay tomorrow

It's not as bad as it sounds, but I know how some of us ride.

    Mount Hamilton Ride 4-23-11

Do watch for gravel patches in the corners on Mt Hamilton road, there's very few places to land a helicopter on Mt Hamilton. I know, I've taken the flight out :( and be watchful of the ricer cars racing on the one lane section of Caliveras road.

Thanks for the good words folks! I'm hoping to get more rides in this year as opposed to last year.

    Leaking caliper and Y.E.S.

The brakes are 1/2 the cost. Pads alone are $230 for the fronts.

    Leaking caliper and Y.E.S.

Update: Took the FJR into the shop today, turns out it's not the caliper, it's a leaky fork seal. The oil was running down the inside of the fork and mimicking a leaky brake caliper. Fork seals are not covered under Y.E.S. unless there is an obvious defect in the actual seal. While it's in the...

    Leaking caliper and Y.E.S.

My right front brake caliper is leaking, I know it's going to need to have the seals replaced. I was just curious if Y.E.S. would cover that. I know the parts are only $25 or so and not that hard to replace, but since I payed for Y.E.S. shouldn't I at least use it once?

    Modular/Flip up Helmet

I ran a Nolan 102 for a couple years. I was always annoyed with how the visor wanted to snap shut at freeway speeds. I prefer to ride with my visor up 90% of the time. Now I wear a Shoie Multitec and I'm quite happy with it. I'll buy another one soon as this one is starting to get loose. I wired...
