    Fuel fill up question ...

I punched a hole in the filler neck of the tank, makes topping up on the side stand far easier. Good to note not to fully top up and leave the bike in the sun, only while traveling. I also adjusted the sender unit to give a more accurate reading.

    2006 Ground spider repair question?

Brodie doesn't make his harness anymore, it was a real nice bit of wiring, I had one installed on my 07. When a mate showed up with the classic S6 fault, I made up my own harness for him. I soldered 2.5 mm pig tails on to all the six 12 volt spider bridging pieces, then soldered them to a 4 mm...

    Helmet Comm issues

I finally went the Bluetooth way after using an Autocom system for several years. By the time I replaced a few leads / accessories I needed, it was cheaper to buy the Sena SMH10. I bought the SMH-A303 base as I use fitted silicon Earmolds (great sound) and the SR10, a Bluetooth hub for my CB...

Avoid a tire changer (Am I out of my mind ?)

There are seven of us in our little tyre co-op. Have the Cycle Hill we bought in from the USA, it gets a fair amount of use. Paid for itself the first rear tyre I changed.

    Bluetooth or In-Ear?

Hi, I have the Sena SMH- A303 base that allows the use of In-Ear monitors. I use Earmolds, a real good hi quality speaker system. The Earmolds are made for each ear, reduces any ambient noise so you do not have to listen to loud music. Friggin fantastic.

    First gen timing chain questions.

Yamaha are on their 3rd design of the CCT. Do it for peace of mind, there has been a few horror stories.

Gen II Accessory Wiring for grips and gps

Did your bike come with the original heated grips, ie with the heater controller on the LHS of the dash, the rotary switch ? You will need the Yamaha controller. The ECU controls power to the grips, power is not on all the time. Maybe depends on ECU voltage detection ???? Also Yamaha's grips...

    Ethanol Effects on FJR?

Yamaha Australia, on their website, say no ethanol what so ever. Link Also listed on the Gen 2 owners manual, no ethanol. My gen 3 owners manual say it's OK to use up to E10. I've had to use it before to get by, but normally filled my Gen2's only enough to get to the next service station.

Givi SR357 rack (Never mind...I bought a new one)

Could try FC Moto or Motostorm, both good to deal with and cheap prices, shipping not to bad either. Their prices include VAT but is removed for international orders.

    (Possibly) MC Related Vascular Condition

Hope the treatment goes well. I'm on Warfin for the rest of my life, 2 DVT's in the right leg, Crohns related sigh! Have my own INR tester, well worth it, no more needles just a little pin prick. Doesn't stop me riding, just have to stop and work the leg a bit ...... just in case.

PDM60 Power Distribution - any feedback?

    Interesting throttle response

Hi, I've now worked on 4 FJR's with such a fault. The first of such faults was with my mates Gen 1, story here. Has happened with 2 Gen 1's and 2 Gen 2's, symptoms occurred after coolant changes. One occasion a few months after a change. Another occasion where someone hid a fault with a...

Er_1 Shift with engine light flashing and tach and speedo dead

May be the front cowling connector #3 ? The connector block has both the bike's "normal" 12 volt ( black wire) and a 5 volt neutral (Black / White). The 5 volt neutral runs directly to the meter assembly. The ECU provides a 5 volt supply to all the sensors / transducers, neutrals of which are...

    ECU help

Nope, try and find an 08 USA ECU or latter. Those of us in Australia had to provide the red master key when Yamaha swapped out the ECU for their Tech Service Bulletin. Had to code the new ECU into the immobiliser, which was a bummer for those without the master key.

Pulled my clutch out this morning

Bike was 8K kms new, clutch slowly progressively worsening. FFS, it only takes an hour to fix.
