    Battery

Thank all... I will see about removing and testing the starter and report back. This will be the first time, other than the 2nd gear issue, that I have to touch this engine. I'll be looking for starter removal info.

    Battery

I'm feeling that after considering other possible causes to a weak crank and not finding any, it's time for my battery to be replaced. Though I normally wouldn't think so after just 4 yrs. for a maintained, regularly used and garage kept bike/battery, this is Florida the-battery-killing-state...

What is the worst thing you have seen a cager do?

Mine happened a few years back as well, coming home from work, and already fairly close to my home. I'm on a dedicated right hand turn lane ready to make the right turn about six cars deep, and this one guy tries to squeeze in front of me so he wouldn't have to go to the back of the line, and he...

    No good deed goes

I don't recall seeing that plug kit. I agree that could be a good solution, maybe better than the string. Although I've never had a string fail on me. I'm going to get one of those mushroom kits to add to my repair kit. Thanks!

    Replacing Ignition Switch

(I suspect an automatic message sent when ADMIN entered a reason for moving a thread...) Well, that's all good to know - I wouldn't want to get anyone (Ignacio) upset...😁 Cheers!

    No good deed goes

I agree, I would plug it as well and ride it for the remainder of the trip if I'm away from home. But I would in all likeliness eventually replace a tire at home. If it was further away from the edge, not a problem. I have ridden tires with plugs in them for thousands of miles, but not that...

    No good deed goes

I agree on the mushroom plug, but you can't do that on the road.

    Replacing Ignition Switch

No prob, thats why I was confused, because it actually appeared in my inbox notifications like he was addressing me. Thanks for the clarification!

    Replacing Ignition Switch

@Ignacio I wouldn't hijack or "co-opt" a thread, that's not a fair assumption on your part - that had to have been a mistake. I know how to post as this is not my first rodeo on forums. I'd like to see the post you're talking about and where it was posted before; I can't tell now which...

    No good deed goes

There are certain places on a tire where I would not leave a plug any long-term. And that close to the side is definitely one of them - but that's just me. 😁 I've used plenty of plugs like everyone else here has over the years, but close to the sidewall, it's only to get home.

    2018 Matte

    Thanks!

    2018 Matte

I meant to ask earlier, does the ceramic coating add a gloss or sheen to the matte paint?

    2018 Matte

I wish I had known better when it was new... I would have tried the ceramic coating.

    2018 Matte

Since you asked... This is my opinion and experience. I own an '18 matte phantom blue. While it looks great when it all detailed up, the matte paint is not something I will do (ever) gain, on anything. It's all about how you like to keep your bike. Some owners don't care about how the bike...

    Avon Spirit ST Tires

For what it's worth ... I have tried Avon Spirit tires and a couple of bikes, while they seem to grip well and perform, I will say that I had a heck of a time getting them balanced (professionally). And it had not happened before the avons. We're not talking just one set, but two sets on two...

    Update/resolved & thx. —> Tire mount / balance weight(s) question

Quick observation - I don't believe it's 8 1/4oz what he's saying, I read it as 8 of 1/4oz weights, which makes it 2oz He says "Front wheel - 8 - 1/4oz weights under the left side valve stem (Fobo 2 TPMS stem and cap installed) and 4 - 1/4oz weights" And that matches the pic. If I came across a...

    Hill country FJR ride

The 3 Twisted Sisters are great roads. It's a bit far for me for a short jump, but if in the area, I'd make it a point to do them again.

My experiment with BMW has taken a downturn

I've read this several times in different places about BMW not making service manuals available. Not that I'm interested in owning a BMW, but if I were, I would definitely deter me from doing so because I am much of a do-it-yourself individual. As many of you may be familiar, recently there was...

FJR's don't like dirt - let alone floods and ...

I think it may be more of your mate than the FJR itself. My buddies and I have been in places with FJR and Concourse's that many would not even remotely consider. I've done similar with a Goldwing as well. Bikes can do much more than what many riders believe so or are able to.

FJR's don't like dirt - let alone floods and ...

Yep, been there done that. The FJR is quite versatile.
