    Side Stand Plate

I see... Well, for some reason mine only has about 1/4 space between the exhaust pipe and the stand base.

    Side Stand Plate

Doesn't that hit/touch the exhaust when up? My side stand only has about 1/4 clearance between the exhaust and the stand when it's up. That upper side looks wider than that. I like the idea of a permanent plate though and.i have the right 'tool'. Did you remove the stand to weld it? I've always...

    BRP in 1 day

Well, there you go - just 'before my times' on the BRP. I did not know that. Thanks!

    BRP in 1 day

I have been riding most of the BRP for over 15 yrs, and have completed E2E rides a couple of times. I have never seen fuel available on the BRP, always have to get off somewhere. At what point in time did the BRP have fuel available without having to exit?

    BRP in 1 day

So you are doing the BRP and Skyline with that mileage. The BRP by itself is doable, but why? You won't get to see much of it and you will definitely spend a long day in the saddle. If it's just an "I did the whole BRP" ride, then yes. But adding skyline on the same day, it's going to be tough...

    Mileage

Yeah, I agree. While it's unlikely that an actual failure will happen, it's just a practice I've always done and as it applies to cars as well, so I never let it get that low.

    Mileage

I agree - 85miles is a lot, and wholly depends on riding style and traffic conditions. Same goes for how many miles you got up to that point. Mine (an '18) gets ~42 mpg unless I'm playing hard. I cannot recall getting much more than that ever. Often I go about 30 miles past the start of the...

    Front End Removed

In case you haven't seen it, before tackling this you may want to read the "I Forked Myself" string posted elsewhere in this forum so avoid a potential issue while doing this.

    I forked myself.

This is great, I will def try this method on my next for tube rebuild no matter what bike. I can see the pulling working with a 'come-a-long' too. On the compression to pop the seals, any idea about how much pressure that took to get to that point? The one thing I'd add to this jig, is wrapping...

    2022 knocked over

I've had Geico for some years now, cars and bikes so multi policy discount. My FJR was costing me just under $275/yr, and good rate in the cars as well with other discounts. at one point I had two bikes insured for less than $500. I changed a bank account where I had automatic draft... One...

    I forked myself.

I see, thanks. In other standard forks I've done (Suzuki, Honda), the lower bushing (no middle) is tightly fitted and I cannot see a way for it to losen to the point of jamming with the 'sledgehammer' technique. Is there something about these FJR ones that makes using this process such risk?
  12. Sunnyorlando

    I forked myself.

I would expect a dealer to give that exact answer. I've worked on non FJR tubes and I'm trying to picture this. Are these upside down tube types in that model year, or regular ones? Did this happen in the process of tapping out the seal? How hard were you pulling when the jammed? Can they not...

Interested in Subframe Stiffy Kit for 2016

Thank. I'll monitor this going forward, the pics are very helpful. I'm kind of surprised that Yamaha never addressed this. When Honda had issues with the gen 1 Goldwing GL 1800's subframe (at about the time the the FJR was born), they addressed the issue and recalled them for a fix within a...

Ok, so where is the typical weak spot to look for or monitor the crack?

Not that I want one.... But do headlight modulators work on LED headlights?

Interested in Subframe Stiffy Kit for 2016

Because I've heard of and seen this issue even with someone I know, I'm wondering now - mine is an '18. Is this issue for all model years? I have a Givi with the tubular mount that attaches to the frame on 2 bolts just around and under the pillion seat, and on the two mounting bolts just behind...

    Newbie needs help.

I have friend that I ride with on long and frequent rides that has used Shinkos - on a VStrom and later on the FJR. He's an excellent rider and I watch him when I'm behind, at first I thought those Shinkos are pretty good and last forever, though not for all bikes - the Shinkos have lower...
