    We Lost A Great Friend

It seems he was a man who followed his heart and enjoyed his life and pursuits. He will ride on in our hearts and thoughts for many rides to come. In the Wind, Brother.

    Experience with Michelin Pilot Power

I got 4,000 miles out of a Pilot front on mountain roads. If you don't consider yourself an aggressive rider, you're wasting your money on a sport tire. Get something equivalent to a Dunlop RoadSmart or a Michelin Road 2. That's my 2 cents worth.

    Potato chip tire

Great tips posted by all. One other is to employ an old automotive rim in the arsenal when working with a front wheel, particularly. It takes the risks of warping the rotors out of the picture. Split a water or heater hose and place it around the perimeter of the auto rim so as to avoid...

    AL/GA Thursday group

I'm looking at the one where goats and pigs replace the waypoint flags!. No criticism implied. I liked the route. I think it is route 1 that turns east and has Highway 83 as the crookedest line between 2 points. Looks like big fun!! :yahoo:

    Mail Pouch Fly By

This trip was high on my list after having a great experience at the Nolichucky Valley Rally. Jon was even kind enough to send me the routes for the rally. However, work has interfered and I have to hang around Atlanta. This is a great riding area and I surely hope to ride there again soon...

    AL/GA Thursday group

Cool. 180 miles is a great max target range. I noted that some of the areas along our proposed routes are VERY rural. Gas stops near the 150 to 180 mile range will probably be a great idea. I confess to not being a good siphon guy right up front. I don't push either! I think we'll enjoy...

    AL/GA Thursday group

No radio for me either. Let's set gps fuel mileage guage or odometer resets for near the maximum range of the bike with the shortest range. This might be a good bladder range anyway!

    Ceasar's head near Greenville SC

Ogre, Try this link: https://www.zumoforums.com/index.php?topic=2433.0 or ZumoForum A good search is: "convert track to route" Good luck with the conversions. If it works for you; I'd like to get the gpx files. My read of the postings is that this process is most easily done directly on...

    Ceasar's head near Greenville SC

Ogre, Great video. Thanks for sharing it. These roads up to US64 are a hoot. 28, 176, and 276 should be on everyone's must list while in the Piedmont region of SC. I just completed a run in July and plan to go back in the fall and early winter. I want to run them in low traffic and after...

    Which GPS to get???

gsozz, I also have a Zumo 550. In addition, I have three 8Gb SDHC cards purchased at about $25 each. Each card allows me to have 1,000 songs, countless photos, and numerous downloads of routes that can be uploaded at any time to internal memory. Routes can also be exchanged on the road when...

    Starcom1 Advanced

My StarCom Digital works perfectly with Zumo 550, Valentine, LG bluetooth phone (receive and send), along with music from the LG phone. My only issues were figuring out cabling. You have to pay close attention as to which cable goes in a specific port.

Thanks be for Lee Parks/FJR accel

Dom, You're a MSF instructor's STAR Student! This was a very COOOOOOOL move on your part to be watchful, aware, ready, prepared, and PRACTICED in a manuever that saved your bike and likely saved YOU from serious injury. Congrads on the move!! I guess you were just making sure you will be in...

    Ear plugs & Helmet speakers

I used Etymotic ER6 earphones for years and do recommend them. However, they do protrude from your ear canal a bit and do cause discomfort for many riders due to contact with the helmet liner. Also, I have come to believe that any protruding earphone in a helmet is not a good idea due to...

    Had to lay her down....

I agree. That kind of comment on this forum would be better received in the HD groups. SIPDE: scan identify, predict, decide, EXECUTE. Swerve then brake or brake then swerve. I think you coulda missed them and saved your bike. With the ABS system on the FJR, there should be few excuses for...

    '08 FJR is home, finally!

Congratulation, Lee! With all your pre-planning and research, I'm glad it worked out so very well for you. Skip those long flat roads out to Colorado and come enjoy the twisties in W VA at EOM. I'm really glad D & H was your dealer selection. Sounds like they treated you right. Enjoy your...

Adam, I had made a previous arrangement with Motorcycle Ed. What a coincidence. BTW, do you have a GPS? Dom is working on a gps route for the trip to EOM from N GA.

    SE Ohio experts

HSTA has its Mail Pouch Fly By rally from Aug 22 -24 in Marietta, Ohio just NW of Parkersburg, WV with a claim to great roads. Check the routes in the Wayne National Forests SE from Columbus. I traveled a number of these areas in route to a Mid Ohio near rain out and had a great time. Lots of...

    Most comfortable sportbike?

Comfort is relative. I have an 03 GSXR1K with pegs 1.37 inches lower than stock and bars mounted above the tripple clamps. The only other comfort mods are a gel seat and a touring windscreen. I took it on a 7,000 mile trip over 21 days from Ga to the NW and then to the USGP and back...
