    Rode my friend's C14

Consistantly got/get low to mid 40's on both the 05 & 07. Usually get the best mileage when I have a passenger (more conservative riding I suppose). Most of my riding is rural rather that suburban or urban.

    Advice please

The copper style of kitchen steel wool pads will also take off the melted rubber & plastic from the chrome pipes as well.

    Tire Repair

Checkout the string kits at Wal-Mart-Very inexpensive, like 2-3 bucks. Several threads on modified air pumps, etc. on the forum. Good luck

Brand new 2008 idle problem + oil

Concur with the above. Idle speed should be set at 1,100 rpm. Also if you are coming from a Big V-twin, the FJR typically has a little less torque at an idle-But only at an idle. You'll adapt & love it.

    Helmet Speaker Install

A length of Aluminum stock from Lowes & a truckstop CB antenna. Couple of longer screws for the Givi mount. Be sure & check the SWR for best distance or lowest ratio. Say 1.1 to 1.5 on the meter.

    Loose Connector?

So I'm installing some farkles & notice this loose connector under panel C. It is secured to the frame with a white plastic cable tie. Everything seems to be working fine on the bike & I have not found any voltage on the connector with the bike ignition either "ON" or "OFF". I don't think it...

    Tourer

At the 600 mile service be sure that they do the Throttle Body Sync. Suspect it's a bit out. PS 700 mile days with stock seat & bars. I do prefer a taller windshield (6'3" & 34" inseam) and larger diameter grips. Good luck.

Would you use this for you FJR???

Excuse the ignorance of a non-transmission type guy here but I seem to remember that on my 750 cc Seca the handbook said not to even coast in neutral with the engine off-something to do with no oil pressure for the transmission. Not sure if this is true for the FJR or not but for me I wouldn't...

    Alarms?

On the 05 it was under the seat. On the 07 under the ECU area.

under seat tool or storage bags

While I don't have dimensions handy I can confirm that the spaces are not the same between Gen I & Gen II. Also the available space in Gen I between ABS & non ABS are different due to the ABS equipment and in Gen II it would also depend on the selected seat height. I do agree it would be handy...

Planning a long ride with the wife and need your help...

Sounds like a wonderful trip. In the Banff area I would also look for somewhere to stay in Canmore which is just south. If you are into historic type sites I would book a night at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff if you can get in. The Banff Springs Hotel is a huge castle like hotel in a...

    Alarms?

Me too. I live in a small town that is really pretty safe. I only use the disklock in other areas, when I expect to be away from the bike for a while, & always on tours at motels. PS I make a habit of never taking my bike to a movie theatre where an observer would know how much time they...
