    FJR's 3 year upgrade

I understand the tire pressure monitoring is mandated for autos soon (not sure of the exact year) and the C14 now has it. I would expect it on a new FJR within a year or two along with at least minor dash upgrades.

Looking for Half cover for the bike

Several years ago the wife got me a Geza cover for a birthday. I like it a lot. I would note that it is NOT waterproof but is water repellent. The bike will get wet in a driving hard rain. I only use it while touring (it packs fairly small-not soda can size but rather small coffee can size)...

    Emergency tool kit

This particular thread is the best & most practical that I have seen on this topic in recent years. This remains my favorite forum. Sorry for the hijack. Ride safe & be prepared!

    Bag liners

FWIW-Never had a leak with the bags on either the 05 or 07. Been in pretty hard rain with both. Generally don't use the bag liners but do on ocassion. Kind of like a tool that you don't use often. When you need or want it-it is nice to have on hand.

Passing other vehicles on two lane roads

Personally I feel safer passing & getting out ahead by myself away from the cars, trucks, etc. Better visibility & a bigger cushion of space. Generally try to get the cushion space & then generally I maintain it. Road situation (trees on side of road, deer areas, etc.) all go into the...

Any advice in buying Direct TV?

The receiver they sent me gratis was new, worked fine, & have had no problems with it since I received it-probably over two years ago now perhaps even three years.

Any advice in buying Direct TV?

Had DirectTV for several years now. Fairly happy. Not sure about deals. They send the monthly bills & I pay them. They seem to edge up every year or so, but then so does everything else. I called them with an issue a few years ago & they said my receiver was shot. I had purchased it myself...

What program should I use for this?

I'm not proficient with Filemaker but I have a friend (A WingNut) who has an avionics business & runs his whole shop with files he's made in Filemaker. He even used it for a several screen movie theatre to keep records & even print tickets for another of his friends. FWIW He is totally sold...

Fed Highway Admin MC Road Survey

Missouri has installed steel cable cross-over guards in the medians at selected portions of I-70. If a motorcyclist ran into the median & went down along one it would probably slice the motorcyclist into halves like a cheese slicer or a knife going through hot butter.

    Handlebar utensil bag

Not pretty but I found this pretty handy back when I had my 05. It was at a truck stop & had long (actually too long) straps I could wrap around the handle bars. I put some soft cotton under it to protect the tank. Tossed all kinds of things in there & it was handy. Didn't look too good...

    Avon Storm - 6,012 miles

Yep, too bad that Avon quit making the Azaros I would have stayed with them for all future motorcycle tires. Are you listening Avon?

    Communication Systems

I tried the Chatterbox system with VOX & with a PTT pushbutton & found the PTT better for me than the VOX. Because friends were using CB's on their GW1800's I changed to a J & M CB. PTT is a trigger. Much prefer the PTT button or trigger on any system I've tried. For me there just seems to...

    Back-off/ led light

Don't have the LED unit in front of me now but if memory serves one wire is the hot for a dimmer "running" light, the second is for the hot for a brighter function (read "brake" light), & the third wire is for the ground. Hope this helps.

    Factory trunk setback

A small word of caution. Your bike will wheelie easier now that the passenger is over or behind the rear axle. Be careful on the first few launches with the passenger on board. I can tell a difference even with small passengers. Ride safe. Ron

Dragon claims 67 year old triker

Could not agree more. I very sincerely hope that our forum members upon arriving at the Dragon take a very conservative ride for familiarization at least the first ride through before any spirited riding. Ride safe guys-It either hurts or it doesn't.............. if you have an incident, and...

Tips For Safe Interstate Riding - 1st Road Trip

Completely agree & would add I like 3-4 clear seconds ahead for my riding box & another rule of thumb I have is to watch 5 cars ahead as it allows predicting what might/will happen. Bright clothes & a tire plug kit. Use the power of the FJR for quick clean passes. Other vehicles in your zone...

Dragon claims 67 year old triker

No personal experience on a trike but having ridden the Dragon several times I can certainly see how with the tight hairpins & abrupt elevation changes a trike could indeed lift a wheel at less than the speed limits there-especially if one had not ridden the Dragon before.
