    Sh.. 48 fault code

We're all guessing that the reason for the code is too high an idle speed... So, uh, what's the bike idling at?

    Throwin' Sparks

Holy crap, I've seen that picture before, but without the sparks, I never realized they were going BACKWARDS!!!

    Tail Bag

Is that supposed to be a seat bag? I've got the large motofizz as a seat bag, and it has served me well...

Super Bike Weekend - Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI

I'll be there. There's nothing like waking up to the sound of warm-up laps.

    AVCC Q

Quick question, when you talk about better response, are you referring to response to pressing, say, the accelerate button, or are you referring to how long it takes the unit to respond to a change in load (such as an incline)?

    Ducati 848 First Three Days

Does that mean we've got a plan for a Rally ride? Actually, it just occurred to me, I think I've still yet to ride Wildcat on my F4i!!!! *hm, I wonder how long the rain will hold off tonight...*

    Tail Bag

Check out Motorcycle Gear (formerly New Enough). They've got great deals on all sorts of stuff. I've got a luggage rack, which gives some flexibility when it comes to using a tail bag, but even before I got it, I was able to use the Firstgear Laguna my wife got for her Ninja. Do you have a Gen...

    Ducati 848 First Three Days

This is true. I saw a guy pulling a sportbike on a trailer behind an FJR at Road America.

    Engine oil

According to my dealer and personal experience, the reason that they changed the oil weight in the manual was that they changed up the Yamaha oil offerings, and quit offering the 20w-40. My dealer carried 10W-40 and 20W-50, and said either was fine (I think the decision on which to buy last time...

    Windshield will not fully retract . . . . ?

Do you have a picture? It is really hard to guess with descriptions. (I really don't now where you mean when you say there is an opening at the base of the mechanism). I did a quick google search for 'fjr windshield' and saw there were a variety of pictures, so you could compare what yours...

    $19.99 Oil & Filter Change

The closest thing I've seen is shops offering a 'winter storage package' where they store your bike over the winter, and then in the spring they get it out, clean it, change the oil and you come pick it up.

    FJR - The Ultimate SUV?

Actually, as the owner of 2 black lab mixes, I can tell you that surprisingly...no, they do not fit in the sidecases.

    FJR - The Ultimate SUV?

If I were going to take my shotgun on the FJR, I would take the barrel off (since it so easy to do) so that it wouldn't hang off the sides so far. And then strap it down to the back seat (cased and unloaded as dictated by state law) like I've done with seen someone else do with rifles. The...

The bloom is off the rose

The rubber protectors on the front fork seals seem to let grit through a bit too easily, which can cause some problems during long-term dusty road/gravel excursions. At least, that's what the local Yamaha dealer told me when my forks started leaking. Of course, that trip was probably more like...

2011 Twin Cities Defiance of Winter Get Together

Looks like you guys had a good time! Wish I'd have been able to make it. My attempts to defy winter have resulted in being...smote? smitten? smited? Eh, whatever. Winter destroys radiators sucks.

    Planning a trip

I see. We didn't have the wiring come apart on us, but both headsets had quit working by the end of our little weekend trip. It is too bad there isn't a cheap way to attach my existing J&M headset to one of the midland FRS radios.

Looks like the automotive group took a few pointers from the motorcycle guys

I notice that in the video, right after the guy gets out of the smoking car (and the video then cuts to a new shot), when the fire actually starts, there's a small puddle of burning liquid under the car. My SWAG would be that a flammable liquid leak in the engine compartment caught fire. That...
