    Eight Important Motorcycle Safety Tips

I like the last one, about allowing passing. Some folks around here need to get that memo...

    Replacing brake and clutch hoses

There's lines running to that unit under the seat.

    Got an F4i

RD? I don't know if you all checked out my ride report, but I ended up taking the F4i on a little trip to the UP of Michigan. It stood in well as a touring bike, though obviously there wasn't as much storage space as the FJR.

    Cramp Buster & Grip Puppies

I bought one last fall, it came with a big rubber band. Of course, I'm not 100% sure of the brand, and there are a pretty wide vareity of the things out there. Mine is a single peice of plastic, plus the rubber band in case your grip is too small. The rubber band is probably close to an inch wide.

My trip to the Upper Peninsula

Yeah, I really don't know how that happened, we both wanted to. We didn't have time on Sunday night, then Monday we spent too long at the first waterfall, by the time we visited the beach and got back to the hotel. On Tuesday, we should have just done it before we left town, but it was raining...

My trip to the Upper Peninsula

Oh, we met Yoopers. We stopped at a gas station on our way to Menominee, and pulled under the canopy next to a 4 wheeler. As we were getting off the bikes a couple kids (the riders of said 4 wheeler) came up and the younger one was like, "Nice bikes" and said something about the Ninja being...

My trip to the Upper Peninsula

It didn't taste like rootbeer. <_< Well, Rt 2 runs along the shore for the most part, though there are some straight, boring stretches, there's really quite a lot of road with a nice view of the lake, and much of the time there is just open beach. The roads we were on inland, when we...

My trip to the Upper Peninsula

We didn't cross the big bridge. I wish we would have had a destination in mind, as then we probably would have, but just crossing and turning around kept getting pushed down the list. As for the water, it is supposed to be all the tannin and organic acids from the pine forests in the watershed...

My trip to the Upper Peninsula

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. Yet, sometimes what happens instead is wonderful. I had been planning to take this trip for some time. I have been on several weekend trips over the last few years, but  had been hoping to take a real ‘vacation’ for quite some time. At first, we hoped to...

    Another miscarriage of justice

Honestly, I think they just use that because they are too lazy to write out, or perhaps even understand, the situation. The reality might be "Another rider attempted to swerve clear of the left-turning vehicle, and in so doing left the roadway/lost control, but had altered his path of travel...

Little gash in rear tire. Fixable?

Well, if the gash isn't through the cords, and isn't causing a leak, it is the sort of thing that you might have never noticed. I mean, there's already cuts in the tire for the purpose of making 'tread'. What I would do, is get me some o that rubber cement. Like what comes in some tire patch...

    what tires to use

The BT023 is a brand new tire, so I don't know if anyone has gotten enough mileage on one to give much of a review on it. I know someone at CFO was running one (and someone else at CFO left with a set :yahoo: ) Maybe someone who has them will jump in?

    Fork seals! Argh!

Minor update: I cleaned off the forks, drove the bike for a nice 90 mile ride to a dealer, and they were pretty covered in goo again. (The seals, the upper forks, and some dripping down the fork leg). I asked at the dealer, they told me the seals were cheap (no big surprise) and that if I...

    Fork seals! Argh!

I'm sure I will find something, I just find the 35 mm film reference to be kind of funny. You know, like the sign at Walgreen's that says 'we STILL develop film'. I have actually heard from a few people that have had trouble getting oddball sized film developed... I would think a credit card...

    Fork seals! Argh!

I did read about that, and I intend to try it. (35 mm film? Do they even make that stuff anymore? <_< ) I'm seriously thinking, the long, bumpy ride down a very bad gravel road (everything from sand up to approximately golf ball sized river rock, there were actually a few tennis-ball...

    Fork seals! Argh!

Alright, so I'm planning on going for a nice little vacation over the 4th of July weekend, and whilst trying to find a throttle lock that would work, I noticed my left fork is leaking! There was oil on the seal, a ring on the upper fork tube, and there's some oil residue on the little abs...

Key West to Homer, AK competition

I would wonder if there isn't going to be a ringer, and of course they'll go by some name ("John Big Bear") that will 'win' the prize money. That is assuming that the riders don't get to Homer and find no one associated with the event...

    Handlebar internal weights

I had my bar end off this weekend (trying to get the bar end in a little bit because there was a gap). I didn't see any weight inside, what I did see what a bit that the screw holding the bar end on threads into. That was embedded in rubber, which in turn was inside a metal ring that must have...

    Gauge covers stained

Boy, if they got brake fluid on your gauges, I'd wonder what the paint on your fairings and tank are going to look like in a few months.
