Would a material such as phenolic serve the purpose of being stiff enough to hold the mirrors and such, but still snap off in the event of a tipover? Or maybe some grooves machined into the aluminum spacers to allow a clean break in the event of a tipover?

It is hard to see in the blurry picture, but can you JB weld the broken pieces in place, then create a U-shaped aluminum splice plate that will be shaped to slip over the mount area?

Almost my dream bike. Congrats. I got passed by a guy on one of those going up Angeles Crest. I was going around a corner and he passed me on the outside while I was doing 75mph. I was impressed. If it had more wind protection, I would pull the trigger.
