If you want great wind protection on the GS get an Aeroflow windshield. Supposed to be awesome! And if you want to learn to ride the pig off road then just take the Rawhyde course for $350.

I have both bikes and they just do to compare to each other. They do compliment each other though. Cost of ownership on a GS is the same as the FJR if you do your own work. It's just the aftermarket parts that are more expensive. If you shop you can find deals.

I just bought a gs1200 and it came with a stock resprung shock. While it is a little nicer it just doesn't react to road as well as a high quality shock does.

I just bought a rear shock for my FJR and it is night and day. It soaks up bumps and doesn't wallow or do weird things in the corners. If you have the money do it. If you don't save up and do it. Can't believe I waited so long to do that.

Thanks Richard. Had a great time. Great to see some old faces and new. Really loved hearing Jill sing the clasics and getting a few smooches from the beautiful Tyler. Hubba hubba Also had fun sleeping with Doug and laughing like giddy school girls when dad came in and yelled at us. Good times!
