    Mr. Smith

Stole this joke and forwarded it to my non-motorcycling brethren.

    Valve Theory 101

A little too loose just results in a tad more mid-range power. Really. Common practice back in the day with screw adjusted Kawasaki in-line fours was to run at (or slightly above) the loose limit. That being said, you have to ask why is the clearance loose? Next shim down just a little thinner...

    FOUND: Throttle Lock for 2004

I am a big fan of the Go Cruise 2 aluminum throttle lock: https://www.amazon.com/Go-Cruise-2wheelride-Universal-Throttle/dp/B00ERXG4TM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462229055&sr=8-1&keywords=go+cruise it grabs the factory grip, and holds it in place against the brake lever. No need to remove grips...

    Valve Theory 101

Mike Nixon, at the motorcycle project, has a lot of truly great information -- valve clearance among the mix: https://www.motorcycleproject.com/text/valve_clearances.html It's a good read, and nothing I see that contradicts my experiences and other references

    90 degree valve stems

So why not locate the heavy (or light) point on the rim, then see where the balance turns out with a new tire, rotating as necessary to minimize balance weight? Prior to setting the bead, of course, so it won't be perfectly accurate, but might well be close.

    Aftermarket seat

I've got a Sargent, and while it's not by any stretch perfect, I find it a world better than stock. I also have the Seat Concepts on hand and about to try -- if it's half as good as it seems (and is reported to be by others!) it's the best bargain in alternate seats -- even if you didn't get in...

    Olympia or Tourmaster

I'm a big fan of First Gear's Mesh Tex in Hi Viz -- pretty much the only one I found that didn't have patches of black on the shoulders. I sit in Orlando traffic, and black shoulders just suck in the heat. No thanks. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/firstgear-mesh-tex-jacket

Avoid a tire changer (Am I out of my mind ?)

I run the T30 on the front. I have an HF machine with Mojo blocks and lever -- but that sidewall proved much too stiff for me. Other makes worked fine, particularly with zip ties. Ended up paying Cycle Gear $30 to get it on the rim...

    Saddle bag caps

How many rides does it take to realize not having the bags is simply too inconvenient.

    Ace Cafe Orlando News?

Just wondering if anyone has heard or read anything definitive on progress at the Orlando Ace Cafe. Most recent thing I found indicated they would be doing a soft opening in January, and grand opening in February -- though that reference was from a AIM Expo discussion, not from the Ace website...

    Remus Hexacone - Pricing?

Even better: leave the stock mufflers on, avoid angering non-riders and avoid advertising to law enforcement that they should turn around and point the laser at the loud...

    Cautionary Tales about Seth Laam!

And all the back and forth is for naught if the seats still don't show up... Reads to me as though all there is so far is yet another promise to put the check in the mail.

Still waiting on mine -- but it's only just Friday, so not quite ready to panic yet...

Would you ride 250 miles round trip with a buddy for a cuban sandwitch?

I would disagree about the pizza in FL -- Anthony's coal fired is more than acceptable -- but I've done 468 one way for BBQ in the right company.

    No Pad Numbers

A 2" length of masking tape will save your fingertips. Fold the tape so that it forms a tab with adhesive ears: _||_ Stick the ears to the shim, use the tab as a handle. Next thing is to get a very flat surface for backing the abrasive. Woodcraft has 8X10 granite surface plates for a really...

My bike of choice in 1999

I've got a '99 Speed Triple in Roulette Green. No saddle sores, but it has gone from Orlando to L.A. (lower Alabama) more than once. No other motor sings that way a Triumph triple sings.

    Routine Maintenance Genius Move

What makes a filter better than OEM?: " I also use a better quality than OE oil filter (Bosch, Purolator Pure1 or Purolator Synthetic)" I've read a lot of stuff to indicate aftermarket filters can be adequate, but never found any quantified measurement that indicated one as better.
