I've got a couple of trips planned for this Summer and I'd sure like a better seat than the stock one. Even though I had Spencer mod it, it still gets a bit uncomfortable after a 400 mile day. And yes I know there have been a few seats available lately but I'm not 6' and 210 lbs. I need something for some one that is "vertically challenged". I'm only 5'4" and about 155. I know it's a shot in the dark but maybe some one has something lying around for a reasonable price. Thanks.

Hello Burns. From what I've heard the Corbin is a little bit lower, but you may consider having the seat cut down in the front. I'm 5'8 and the bike is a little tall for me. As far as seats I've been through all kinds of different ones (on several different bikes) but the best by far is a custom seat that you drive in and have made. Russell does come to mind but I'm not sure what they could do on the side of ground reach.

I've got a Sargent, and while it's not by any stretch perfect, I find it a world better than stock. I also have the Seat Concepts on hand and about to try -- if it's half as good as it seems (and is reported to be by others!) it's the best bargain in alternate seats -- even if you didn't get in on the group buy.

Oh, and if the Seat Concept is really good, then my Sargent (with heat option) will become available...

Ok so, has anyone heard of or used a seat done by Steve Gowing? He is close enough that I could do a ride-in but I haven't heard much about his work.

What group buy for the Seat Concepts?

Did you look in the 'Group Buy' subforum? It's under Capitalism and Bartering ... https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/166224-group-buy-seat-concepts/page-1

I have a Seat Concepts, purchased before the group buy, and it's mighty comfy. It also makes for a slightly shorter reach to the ground when you scoot forward. I can flatfoot on one side and tiptoe on the other. Stock seat was flatfoot on one side, cannot reach the ground on the other; or tiptoe on both sides.

Caveats:

(1) I thought the stock was pretty comfortable up to about 600-700 miles per day.

(2) I'm a cheapskate and didn't want to spend $500 or more on a seat. Still don't, but a heated seat option is starting to sound cozy.

(3) I'm not particularly tool-handy, but got the Seat Concepts cover (that's really all it is) installed in less than an hour.

It's supported my butt for well over 5,000 miles, including 500 miles yesterday, and I have not a single complaint.
