    FJR Down

Here are some pics. First contact was left side. Case damage and arrow points to the only significant damage on the left fairing. Right handlebar and throttle trashed Tiny dent in tank ahead of the sun reflection (arrow). Mirror scraped. The bottom arrow points to the total damage to...

Thanks Turbine, but I haven't given up hope on a repair. So my interest about San Jose Yamaha is their service department. I'll heed your words about buying there.

Anyone here have opinions on San Jose Yamaha. I spoke with the service manager on the phone and he seemed like a straight up guy. I'm hoping to hear some good feedback about them.

MadMike ... Thanks for kind words, it really helps. Aside from having a bent bike my ego is suffering major damage. I should have been able to save that turn easily. I just didn't have my brain properly engaged. It doesn't much bother me to scrape a peg and I had plenty of lean left before that...

Totaled!! Oh no. That will make me a waiter, but for what year? I want to pretend that it's repairable. BTW, my helmet sliders worked just fine.

WOW!! Thanks for the kind words guys. I really am happy to be uninjured. A broken rib is a major injury compared to me. I think I might have brusied my knees, but the next couple of days might reveal othe pains, but I would be surprised. I went down gently. I think the bike would have come out...

    FJR Down

This is an old thread. If you have seen it before go to the end of page 4 for the update. Feeling a bit sick right now about bending my bike. :( Went on a group ride today and crashed in the first set of turns for the day. Major damage to my ego, significant damage to the bike and little to...

    Occidental for Lunch Bunch

Thanks again Mike. It was a great ride and really nice weather. It's also my last ride before rebuilding my bike. Uh, did I mention I crashed today (Sunday)? :( I'm trying to figure out what section to post my crash. I'm okay ... FJeer not too happy.

    Riding Techniques, Tips and Questions

I tried moving my lever down by ne spline.Turns out that it is a long way down is a long way. I moved it back. I also read somewhere about grinding the pads smaller. Sounds like a good idea, but I'm just going to continue letting my ABS talk to me. And it does that pretty regularly. If anyone...

    Riding Techniques, Tips and Questions

Geezers point is well taken. Most of the country roads I travel (CA) don't have grease strips. The sections with dirt/gravel debris can usually be spotted early enough to adjust speed or line. Be aware of your environment and don't attempt using track speeds and lines. Some of the situtations...

Electrical gadgets. Distribution and such. This is holding me up from buying a GPS and radar detector. By the time I get around to it, GPS units will probably be powered by nuclear fuel cells.

Disclamer - "No claims of expertise on my part" , but I gots lots of opinions. Hanging sometimes conjures up pictures of something you are doing with your arms. Not sure that any of these posts outright stated that your grip on the handlebars should be relaxed. Tension on the bars doesn't allow...

Thanks Dangerous. That answers my question about adjusting the rear shock but I am still curious about the full travel length at the rear axle. 1.25" is .5" stiffer than instructor from that class recommends. That sound like a significant difference. His presentation was pretty convincing, but...

    Helmet Cam captures collision

Please keep in mind that knowing how to drive is not required for a California drivers license.

    Sag Settings

I'm new to anything about suspensions and just attended a basic suspension class. According to the instructor the front suspension should be set at at 1/3 the total fork travel, which would be 45mm on the FJR. Rear suspension should be set at 25% which I can't figure, because the FJR shop manual...

    Football Fan

An elementary teacher starts a new job at a school in San Diego and trying to make a good impression on her first day, explains to her class that she's a Charger fan. She asks the class to raise their hands if they too are Charger fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little...
