Hmmmm. Although I don't have a Gen3 I would be interested to know what happened. Other things not mention: How long has it been doing this? How many miles on the bike? How often do you ride it? When did it start doing this (miles and date)? Any indication it started having more mild problems...

One thing not mentioned was how old the battery is and how often you ride (to keep a charge) etc. My take is the battery is shot and no amount of trickle charging will bring more electrons back to life. I'm assuming it's a lead acid battery and they don't have that long a life. If you don't ride...

+1 Dowco Guardian. I bought mine many many years back and about every two years I got it replaced for free because it decayed in the sun. Got three new ones as it had a life time warranty, not sure if they still do.
