    R.I.P. - GT14B-4

When charging a dead battery, you need a charger where the maximum current in amps is less than 20% of the Ah rating. The rating of the FJR stock battery is 12.0 Ah. The maximum amps of your charger should be 2.4 for the FJR if the battery is dead. More than that can fry it. 1.5 amps works...

Why do you think the cagers (that dislike us) dislike us?

Because then they could not hide inside their cage. They are so tough when in the cage, but not if they had to step out. Also, they couldn't eat, talk on the phone, put on make-up and take a nap if they were on two wheels....well maybe. I wish more and more would invest in two-wheel...

    Desert Valley Powersports

+1. That is a little strange. The best urinal/bathroom was in New Zealand. It had a one-way mirror as the backsplash above the trough. Two person tables w/chairs where against it on the outside, so you can aim at people sitting at these tables.

    Passenger shoes touching the exhaust

Cobra Shields - Clicky I have them on mine. They are great. I can't remember if that part number is still good but search J & P and you will find a few choices. Check your pipe dimensions just in case.

    Passenger shoes touching the exhaust

+1 to what ionbeam said. The Cobra shields are to protect the rider's heels. BikeJohnny has pillion shields for Gen I and II. For 2006 and beyond Clicky.

Anyone with an FJR less than 5 yrs old had any major service done?

Moosehead, I didn't get the pricey Cdn Warranty for my Cdn 04. I don't put on the mileage that you do because of my work (I try to), but have had no problems with it. It is a gamble either way but if you look after it and give it maintenance and TLC, it should be fine if you ask me. Your call.

Power Commander for the FJR... in a nutshell, what are the gains?

In general, No, not required. Gains with the PC - in simple terms, can run cooler and smoother. PC changes the managed fuel mixture. Same idea as re-jetting carbs, but adjustable. Some just like to tinker. You can adjust performance. It may lower MPG. Don't feel the need for my FJR and my...

    Really inexpensive gel seat pad

Good for you that you found something that you like. Just my thought, I found that putting anything on top of the stock seat was a short term fix but didn't work in the end. The stock seat in the end is pretty much crappy and built for good showroom looks and makes it easy for the rider to put...

A vendor to avoid? Not happy...

Soap Opera. Any vendor comments should be left out until the final resolution is completed...no matter how long it takes. When someone is accused, they also get the chance for rebuttal. I would not hold it against a vendor if he explained his side here, after being criticized here. There are...

    Leather pants

I agree with loanarranger, I find perforated leathers too hot for the summer. My pure leather stuff (cow leather) has been through the rain a few times, and it did not shrink at all.

    louder exhaust system

+1 Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of a nice engine, I enjoy a nice rumble. Some things sound great with a throathy roar, to me. I have had all kinds of bikes and I still have a love for rigids with a nice exhaust, because I like to hear the engine. There is excessive as well. The phrase...

Russell Day-Long Seats - WAY BACK ORDERED!

I waited until winter last year. I contacted them in early Jan '07. The whole process was really great and really fast. From Ontario Canada, down to them, built and back in no time (can't remember the exact dates but it was fast). Do it during the off-season if you want it fast. It is a great...

Fuel Starvation 33 mi into reserve

I prefer to never go below 1 bar on the fuel gauge. In my cages, I try to never go below 1/4 tank. Why?...some silly paradigm. I was always told and thought there is some sediment and what not (heavier/denser than the fuel) that sits at the bottom of the tank that I don't really want to push...

***** on a bike buzzed my van today

Tosser 1) Literally, one who masturbates. Common usage typically refers to anyone of whom you have a low opinion. 2) English insult. Implies that the person masturbates excessively. Also see ******. ****** 1) a bloke who whacks off alot. 2) a term of endearment...an insult that's actually a...

    Highway debris

I had to avoid a Jackfish (Pike, Northern Pike, whatever you want to call it) that looked to be at least a 10 pounder. It flew out of a Bass fishing boat being towed at 120 KPH (75 MPH).

    Linked Brakes Open Discussion-Thoughts

No problem. As I said, Note the word "before". ABS (Anti-Lock) is not instantaneous. You need a lot of braking force/pressure before it kicks in. Slight braking does not engage ABS. When the wheel is about to lock, it activates. Here is a snippet of info about ABS in general, And again, as...
