Thanks Ross... I'm leaning that way for peace of mind. Griff

    FJRF008: Cam Chain Tensioner Survey

A – 2006 AE, original OEM CCT B – some noise at around 120000 km (around 72000 mi), much worse following the valve adjustment at 131,000 kms. During that check (third one on the bike) one valve required shimming - first time any valve has been out of spec. C – at this point nothing - dealer...

Mother of All Mexico Dirt Bike Rides - March in 2015!

Yeah, looking at either trailering down in April, or dropping the bike somewhere down south for the winter... plenty of time to work out the details. Griff

    BC&Alberta Flood Season

So far it doesn't look bad, at least in Calgary. You never know what's going to happen, but last year was pretty exceptional combination of rapid snow melt and heavy rains that caused the flood. Currently, although high, the Bow River at Calgary is only about a 6th of the flow we had last year...

Anyone use Lowering Link on FJR?

I put the Kooba (sp?) links on mine - all of what Gary said applies (I didn't change the side stand, but probably should have). I'm considering going back to stock, since the links don't provide that much lowering. Griff

Going-to-the-Sun Road - Glacier National Park - Opens when?

Late June is pretty standard for that road. They get something like 20+ feet of snow up at Logan Pass every winter, so it takes awhile for it to disappear.

Who tows a trailer with an FJR ?

I felt my ears burning... I have an Aspen Sentry... makes camping nice, hardly notice it behind the bike, although it does lower the gas mileage somewhat. Here it is in "camping mode" (Cabot Trail, 2011) And here it is packed for the road (Blue Ridge Parkway, same trip in 2011) I've used...

    Side Case loose

You can get the teeth back where they belong with a flat screwdriver and some gentle pressure. There's a link up above in Mcatrophy's post... scroll down to post #20 in the link, there's pictures of how I did it. Done it with mine, and a few others, and so far (4 years later) no repeat issues...

    Aerostich Combat Boots

I have a set of the combat lights - love 'em. As others say, a size up seems to work. Didn't have any issues breaking 'em in. I did have to adjust the shift lever to the "furthest out" position so the toe of the boot would fit properly underneath. I'm normally a size 8. The CT-L's are 8.5 if...

I reckon Manitoba and Saskatchewan will be a big enough barrier to keep folks local ;) Either way, you keep BikerGeek ... Besides Bust... didn't you hear that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
