    Code 12 Hell

I've sprayed the key cylinder with contact cleaner and worked the key enough times that I don't think that's an issue. Also checked all the ground spiders and inspected every electrical connector on the bike.

Ok... Apologize if formatting etc sucks, doing this on phone On my way to CFR, stopped to see family in Ontario and began having starting problems. Will try to put this in sequence and hope someone has some ideas 2006 AE, 120-odd thousand km, all recalls complete . won't start and a fault...

Border crossing into Canada from USA

If you're coming in from VT, the crossing into Quebec at Phillipsburg (North of St Albans) or Noyen (North of Alburg) are both (usually) pretty quiet. From there, you can follow the river north to Hwy 202 to cross the Richelieu westbound, then take some back roads over towards Valleyfield on the...

    Calgary Tech Day?

Update, Part II Thanks to all for coming down, was great to see old friends and meet a some new ones. @ Ian: found THIS on the driveway next to where Robert was working on his bike... not sure if it's scrap, or if it belongs somewhere... Will schedule another one for fall, and maybe one for...

    Calgary Tech Day?

I have the Admore kit in my Givi box, and it is (IMHO) a much better product than what Givi provides. Simple install, you don't need an aux fuse block (although eventually with all the farkles, you may want to consider one) and great product and customer support from Admore. Let me know if you...

    Calgary Tech Day?

Update... IGOR!!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! (Insert cheesy thunder sound effects and lightning flashes here) After spending a good chunk of the day removing smashed bits, harvesting farkles, and reconnecting stuff, we fired up FJRGuy's broken steed around supper...

    Calgary Tech Day?

Always good to have a driveway/garage full of bikes and good people! We even managed to get some work done! Did you get the Givi stuff installed? We were all ready to send the pit crew down to Blackfoot to help :)

I'll be around Monday or Tuesday... planning on being in Ontario on the 13th (ish) and then doing the Hamilton Airshow on the weekend... world's only flying de Havilland Mosquito will be there (for anyone who cares about that sorta thing). I'll give you a shout ... when do you get in on Monday...

    Archaeopteryx sailplane

Always enjoyed flying sailplanes more than the powered things - just not overly practical for getting anywhere. That little rig is just about as close as you can get to being a bird... very cool. Thanks for sharing

First 1000 miles on my new 2012

Hi Shawn... replied to the original "Welcome me back" thread... Tech Day is a gathering of local FJR folks, usually in my garage, to do needed maintenance, farkles, chew the fat, tell war stories, etc, etc, etc. This year's spring tech day is Saturday, 8 May, 0800 until we get done... I'll PM...

    Mike and Rob's 50 - 50 Twisty tour.

Always welcome here - give me a shout/PM when you know more or less when you'll be around Cowtown. Cold beer, steaks and all that crap... and a garage if you're due for maintenance. Have fun lads! Griff

First 1000 miles on my new 2012

That section near Exshaw on the way to Canmore is always pretty windy... but this weekend was especially windy. I think you lucked into a bad day... generally the FJR stays pretty planted, regardless of winds. Worst wind I've ever had: once between Hana and the Sask border I was getting tossed...

Running a AE up a ramp

When we went to retrieve FJRGuy's wreck, we loaded into the back of my truck using ramps, a manual come-along, some slings (to extend the reach of the come-along), a small amount of brute force and a hefty dose of patience. And it did bottom out on the tailgate. Never tried to load one under...

    Kootenay Butt Buster

That broom place is just up the road from the campsite, and fits in nicely with the "hippie" culture of the area. Never been inside, but apparently if you're really in the market for an "artistic" handmade broom that costs a zillion times more than the usual variety (and probably doesn't work as...
