Dead GXM 30 antenna (I think)

Hey Griff, yes, I have replaced the cover on my GXM 30. My cover cracked after one of my little off-road excursions, aka crashes. The parts are stupid expensive, but swapping the cover, and cord as I recall, isn't a big deal at all.

FJRForum Official 2015 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis thread

I only had an inkling of what the IBR was about in 2011 when I first followed it here on the FJR forum. Now watching all of the speculation after having lived through it, I just have to shake my head and smile a lot. Unless you are one of the chosen few who has seen an actual rally pack, and...

FJRForum Official 2015 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis thread

Man, I go away for a few days and now there are 9 or 10 pages of posts I need to read, official IBR reports to go through. SOPT links to check,......Good thing I sit at a desk all day and try to look busy most of the time.

FJRForum Official 2015 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis thread

I ran 2 GPS units, both Garmin, and while they had the same info in them they would give me different routes at times. I also like to have one zoomed in, and one way out. Also, at times I would have one already set for my next stop so I wouldn't have to wait for it to calculate as I am pulling...

Three peat would be great. If it was a re-peat for an FJR Darksider that would be the icing on the cake.

Feel like I should be there, but know I couldn't have made it this time around. Ride safe, ride smart.

    2015 Iron Butt Rally

Good luck Tony. Ride safe, ride smart. If I had to give one piece of advice to the "Noobs" it would be to keep moving towards a goal. If you aren't routing or sleeping, you should be moving.

    2015 Iron Butt Rally

Well I haven't been around much since the '13 IBR, work and family and all that, but rest assured I am watching and wishing all my fellow FJR and Team Strange riders the best of luck. Ride hard, ride fast, ride smart, ride SAFE.

    John Ryan Passed Away

I have been unplugged the last few days and just found out about John's death. I didn't know him well, but spoke with him a few times. What a huge loss for the motorcycle world, and the LD community in particular. Damn,

I have thought about applying, but then I look at my checking account balance. Yikes!

    Iron Butt Association Magazine

Got mine. Have to say that reading all the IBR related articles is starting to make me think more seriously about the Butt Lite and 2015 IBR.

Anyone get their fall issue yet? I know they have started sending them out, but I haven't received mine yet.

    Announcing ButtLite 7, July 6-12 2014

Hmm...Maybe. I thought the BL was a tougher ride than the IBR personally. A LOT (Like metric *** ton) less rest, and Team Strange has a way of making getting the bonuses just a tad more challenging.

Has it really been 5 years!

Damn, 5 years already. I will open the bottle of "The Good Stuff."

    Tires - The aftermath

PR2 on the front, and it still has a few thousand miles left in it. Ran a Michelin Exalto on the rear, and it should be good for another 25-30 thousand miles (barely broken in during the IBR).

    Going to the Dark Side

Michelin Exalto. Like I said, there was a good 3/16" hole in the tire, but since I plugged it with a string type plug is has been good.

    Going to the Dark Side

So some thoughts on using a car tire in the IBR. First, IMHO, using a car tire for an event like this is an absolute must. At no point during the rally did I give the wear of the rear tire even a second thought. The tire performed perfectly, and I even found a new area in which a car tire...

2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

I THINK that might be a no-no. Mine should be pretty darn easy to figure out.

2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

One back up for each of the ones running on the bike. Just like I have two computers. Back-ups for everything man. With the weather being what it is, I wish I had brought the Kayak or my scuba gear.

2013 Iron Butt start location ?

Well as much as I believe in getting places early, I think if you are leaving on 5/26 you might be getting there a little earlier than just about anyone. Yeah, I know you meant to say 6/26, but **** needed to be given.
