I could see the slipper clutch which can be easily installed in my gen2.  if I ever needed a new clutch I might even think about it.

I gotta wonder how all this is going to affect sales of used FJR's.   I can just imagine having work of this magnitude done by a dealer tech that is totally unfamiliar with a bike as complex as an FJR.  From what I've seen I would rather have a go at it myself.

Jeez am I glad I have a gen2 (2010) machine.  I was in the local Yamaha shop awhile back I think buying a quart of Yamalube gear oil and I said if I ever ran into an issue that was beyond my pay grade I would be in to see them and they said as a Yamaha dealer they would have to accommodate me...

Hey Ural Guy, Good decision to replace the 1150 with an FJR I did the same thing 4 years ago and glad I did.  I take it the transmission input shaft is what went?  Not uncommon with the oilhead that and the final drive blowing up, grrrrrr.  Curious how much the dealer wanted to fix.

I've found that my bike runs best with the O2 sensor disconnected.  Here's my theory:  Ivan zeros out all O2 sensor data points with his flash but if there is still an O2 sensor connected the ECU detects this and will try to go closed loop when other running parameters are met so I think after...

Most interesting and I concur with your experience 100%.  Ivan told me pretty much the same thing about the gen3 and its ECU memory.  That's a plus for a gen3 not to take anything away from the gen2 after Ivan's flash.  I got 51 mpg after the flash as well with the O2 sensor connected and 47 mpg...
