    No Headlights

Quick easy check is to pull the bulbs and check them with a a ohm meter. The relay just applies power to the lights after the engine starts up. The thumb switch on the switch assembly is responsible for shifting from high to low. The other choice is to check the continuity of the relay with...

Brakes and No Kerchunk on '09

I now have a 2009 bike and have noticed the improvements in the bike overall from the Gen 1 model. The one thing I was disappointment in was the rear brakes. On my 2005 I could fully engage the rear brake (ABS Model) with a quarter inch travel while the 2009 would require 3/4-1 inch travel. I...

Laam Seat - Leather or Vinyl

Leather is a great choice if you spend 5 minutes a week applying leather cream to it to keep it supple and protected. Vinyl is a good material also but it has its own downside of cracking and fading in UV exposure. What ever you decide to get it will take care on your part just like washing your...

Swingarm removal - how difficult gen3 Naomi

I had no major problems pulling my swing arm on my Gen 1. No real wear noted and it did need fresh grease. It took a few hours to get it completed. Took time to clean up everything under the rear section while it was off. If you already have the rear end off it will add about an hour on your...

    moving up

I now have a 2009 FJR sitting in the garage. Moving up from the 05. I did not think there would be much difference between the 2 bikes but when I test drove it I really felt the changes make from Gen 1 to Gen 2. Smoother, stiffer ride, better wind management and it felt more comfortable even...

Winter rain gear over riding suit, suggestions please

A little to the party but here is my 2 cents! I have a tour master set of rain gear that works well for me. I rarely use the jacket now that I got the liner for my motoport. Did not get the liner for the pants. Jacket liner works for my mesh jacket as it dries quickly. The stretch pants don't...

    Deer Damage

You had your guardian angel riding on the back! I am glad to hear you were not injured in the Deer strike. Damage done will not be fully known until you strip off all the tupperware and get a good peak inside. It may surprise you at what was broke inside. If the bike is totaled you would get...

    Spider question 2004

From what I have learned on this forum, the Gen I bikes do not have a spider problem. It is the Gen II bikes that have the issue. That is why our Gen I bikes are superior! Plus the fact I can afford the paid for Gen I bike

    starting issues

My 05 does the same thing since I got it almost 2 years ago. Happens in the summer months and only when the motor is heat soaked. It does not do it consistantly and the battery seems to be in good shape. I notice it when I stop for gas riding in city traffic. It has not failed to start yet, just...

quick and easy answer on coms

I jumped into the Coms world this year with a pair of Sena 20's. Having a girlfriend who rides with me made me get them. As a plus I can now answer phone calls now, listen to FM and stream music. These have worked well so far.

    Motoport USA clothing experiences....

I bought the stretch kevlar pants and the kevlar mesh jacket. Custom made to my body. Love the suits and I did crash test the pants. Pants held up great on a 60 foot skid. The tourmaster jacket I was wearing did not hold up..... Motoport is highly recommended.
