FJR 1300 Comparison To Sports Bikes

Would I buy a "crotch rocket" for even more performance? Apparently not. I own an FJR.

    Tailbone Injury

You need to get your *** to a doctor. Some folks have a tailbone with a spur that won't heal without surgery. Suck it up and go to a doctor.

    Throttle Spring

There has been a lot of discussion here about the spring release and the failure of the spring to be seated against the tang after the release. Some have complained about the failure of the throttle to snap shut when released when this happens. Does this mean the spring has made two turns...

    Man Passes Gas

It's a damn good thing he didn't try to ignite it or he'd be charged with attempted murder.

Wayne and Annette - Accident recap

Charlie, I'm glad you were there to look out for them and offer comfort. My thoughts are with Wayne and Annette as they recuperate. Scary stuff...I almost always ride alone. Points out the importance of riding partners. Having a cell phone on your person is only useful if you can use--and...

Going across the USA on my motorcycle

What a great opportunity. I'd love to ride coast to coast. It's on the top of my list of things to do. Ride safe! Let us know how it goes.

    1200 Miles for Free

My sticker is in the glove box--probably depends on the state. I'd guess most states require you to verify that mileage is correct when the title is transferred.

Cleaning the inside of a helmet

In the past month or two, one of the major motorcycle rags asked a leading helmet manufacturer (Arai or Shoei?) about helmet cleaning and they said to dunk it in a sink of water with a mild soap (I use Woolite), rub the stuff around, rinse it out good, sop up as much water as you can from the...

    No Gas

Drivers are creating an artifical shortage. My information is that the Coloniel Pipeline, which serves the east coast, is still fulfilling all orders. But everyone is running every vehicle they own in for gas, which causes a shortage, ergo, prices go up. My bike is about empty, but I'll sit...

Want to borrow my FJR AE?

My experience with these sorts of things is that trying to figure everything out at the beginning is overwhelming. It is only when you can break it down into little pieces can you see what has to be done. And those little pieces may come over a period of time. If you are leaning toward...

    ZUMO Replacement Screws, and Mounts

Finally got the original screw out. Because the metal circlip was at the very top of the lower set of threads, it had to be removed before I could screw the screw out completely. I've also got the rubber o'ring. The circlip must be something Garmin went to recently so that a screw could not...

    ZUMO Replacement Screws, and Mounts

I'll see if I can get a photo of that wee circlip and post it up.

Use Google to plan rides with garmin 550?

The Zumos are set up to use Mapsource (comes with the Zumo). I'd start there, even if it "sucks moist *** cheese" (did I get that right?). For my first use it has worked fine, and www.zumoforums.com is a great source of info to get you going. Once you get more advanced, you can weigh the...

    ZUMO Replacement Screws, and Mounts

I haven't been able to pull the screw out even with needle nose pliers! (Yes, that is after unscrewing it for half a day. Well, maybe not quite that long.) Stops at the circlip. ??? I'll try again and will post results. It's a new unit; maybe it's something Garmin recently added?

The Dragon and Part of the Blue Ridge Parkway

Thanks for all you guys do for us and I hope your current deployment is a safe one. Measure twice, cut once--not quite on point but the general implication applies. Glad you didn't do any damage and a big thanks for all those who helped out.

Is there a reason you don't want to use Mapsource?
