    Got a "gift" yesterday

Yep. I had to replace a front fender on my cbr929 a few years ago because I got Loctite on the plastic. Cracks developed soon after.

    300 miles on a tank

I've gone 450 miles on a fill-up. With the Tanji Aux tank I can carry just under 11.5 gallons of gas. :yahoo:

#1 safety additions to your FJR

Seems like mother Yamaha could have spread out the speedo dial a little more. Look at all that wasted space between 2 and 6 o'clock!!! :) Another idea would be to put a digital tach in that quadrant of the speedo and get rid of the analog tach.

Looks like I'll be stickin' around...

Welcome aboard Tree Doc. The FJR sure can eat up the miles in a hurry. :D

    FJR Lite w/6-speed

Two different places the site says.... * Fuel economy estimates are based on US EPA exhaust emission certification data obtained by Yamaha and converted into Canadian measurements. Your actual mileage will vary depending on road condition, how you ride, maintain your vehicle, accessories, cargo...

    Going to the Dark Side

Got my bike back from the shop yesterday with new tires; Avon Storm on the front and a Stone G019 Grid on the back. Also had new fork seals & front brake pads installed. The shop fabricated a bracket to replace the stock part. Can I be #23? Please. :)

#1 safety additions to your FJR

A headlight modulator went on my FJR before I rode it out of the dealer's parking lot. It's not on all the time but sure makes a difference in heavy traffic and other potentially dangerous situations. Makes me a little less invisible.

    Tankslap caused by windshield?

I had a tankslapper accident on a V-Strom back in 2003. Here is my description of that incident..... The accident was caused by a combination of factors but mainly very strong headwinds (30-40 mph) and excess speed with the Suzuki hard bags mounted. The wind was blowing really hard but it was...

    Fork Seals

I'd replace both sides. My right side seal failed last week and puked all over the right brake disk and caliper. I'm having both forks serviced and slapping on new brake pads later this week along with new tires. My '05 is approaching 50K miles and I'm surprised the fork seals lasted this...

    Tankslap caused by windshield?

Only time I've had a high speed wobble on the FJR was fully loaded w/Tanji tank & large MotoFizz seat bag at about 130 mph. Let off the gas and the bike calmed down. The day before I did a max speed run with no problems w/o all that weight on the back.

    Today was a good day!

A good friend of mine in Golden, Co. rides a Honda Silverwing (scooter) very well. He led a group of us out to California in 2007. Didn't slow the group down a bit but his gas mileage was about 35 mpg and my FJR was 45+ mpg. Running that scooter at 85 mph all day long sucks the gas. :D He...

    Range

Last time I was out that way (Oct 09) I saw a state trooper running radar 50 miles north of Alpine. Don't know how much leeway they give but keep the radar detector on just in case. ;)

    Mr.Lucky (by association)

Sounds like BADD raised a ****-load of money. Hope they put the $$$ to good use. Congrats on the new ride.

    Going to the Dark Side

I ordered a Potenza 019 Grid from Tire Rack yesterday and it shipped today. Hope to have it mounted in a few days along with a new front Storm. :)

    Going to the Dark Side

I managed to get over 23K miles out of the OEM rear tires (Potenza RE050) on my S2000. These are rated at UTQG - 140. The fronts are still going strong at 29K. :) But I don't drive it hard so YMMV.

    speeding............ooops...

One thing I like about Texas is the 70 mph speed limit on most country roads and that a warning is given for speeds less then 10 over. I've even gotten a couple warning tickets for 15 over. :D

What's a great little stablemate for the FJR

I sure like my DRZ400sm. Very reliable and loads of fun. 60 mpg is a bit optimistic though. I get around 50 mpg most of the time. I bought a '07 drz last spring for $4200. New ones list at just over $7K. ... and it has more miles on it this year then any of my other bikes.

    That V-Twin sound

My '02 V-Strom sounds pretty sweet with Stayintune pipes. Not too loud but that v-twin sound is much deeper then the stock pipes. The V-Strom is an all day bike that is almost as comfortable as the FJR too.
