My 27 year old son called me three weeks ago and told me that he had won a raffle sponcered by a group called B.A.D.D. (Bikers Against Drunk Drivers). The prizes available to him were a 1948 Ford pickup built on an 86 Vette chassis, a 1950 Chevy pickup with a Nova sub frame and a Vette engine, and a 2010 Streetglide. He could pick two of the three. He initially chose the two pickups and gave me the Chevy. The Chevy proved to have thrown a rod, wiped out the cam in the process (three pieces) and for all intents and purposes was junk. I pitched a ***** to the guy running the raffle about the blown motor. He told me to bring the truck back to him and he'd give a bike. The Streetglide was gone but a new "Night Rod Special" was still available. I took it.

In it's present trim it is the most uncomfortable thing that I have ever ridden. The riding position is called the "Clamshell" position. Gonna make a few mods to see if it can be made comfortable. I have to admit that it does have some snap!

Here's a few pics...

This is the 50 Chevy

Like both of them! From 3200 miles-ish away, the old Chevy looks pretty fine. A new short block and you'd have the cruise night special...OTOH the HD looks the part too. Nothing to complain about since they were free...or close to it.

Yeah....I'm thinking that Chevy looks pretty good. Even if one were to invest in a crate motor it looks to be a pretty nice Saturday Night cruiser or even a fun errand runner.

To each his own, but I'll bet the money you'll invest in the V-rod........ :dntknw:

Agreed that each choice has it's own merit.

You nailed it Escape. It's more like 50 feet instead of 3200 miles. It looked good from 50 feet. Any closer and you began to see the flaws. It would have cost $10,000 to get it anywhere near acceptable condition. The sons 48 Ford is close to show quality.

Holy incredible uber raffle batman! That was some haul. It sounds like the prizes totalled in the upper 10s of 1000s! How many raffle tickets did they sell? And the price of entry must have been high!

Would have loved the Street Glide.

Cool!

My son bought 60 tickets at $1.00 apiece. There were 2 1/2 million tickets sold.

Sounds like BADD raised a ****-load of money. Hope they put the $$$ to good use. Congrats on the new ride.
