Another Seat Question (please don't pounce)

What are your measurements? I've noticed the same thing. I look down and my crotch is real close to the tank. Not right up to it but close. I'm 6'1" 210. With these measurements I can sit on anything with no height problems. You're supposed to be slightly on the up-slope the seat makes as it...

    Drive shaft noise

When the bike is on the road, it's designed so the output shaft and the drive shaft are close to straight. When it's on the center stand, the rear swing arm is dropped. Probly not good to run it that way. :)

    Stubborn Ignition Switch

You definitely want to use a graphite based lubricant. There's a product available about everywhere called Lock-Eze, one small can will last you a lifetime. Never mistake WD-40 for a lubricant. It's a solvent propelled with propane. If you spray it into anything to lubricate it, all you're...

Ohio Man Benefits From Swing Arm Service

Just did the swing arm service and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't done theirs yet. I got great piece of mind and understanding after taking it all apart, checking, cleaning and re-lubing etc. Also, it's a great excuse to go through the rearsets and do the splines. It was all so...

Purchase and Installation of a Penske Shock

It is definitely easy to change out the rear shock. I just ordered a Hagon, $441. I'm going to do the swing arm and link bearings while I'm at it. I know you can do this job, and probably better and with much more care than any shop.

    Michelin Motorcycle Tires

Good reading. I just got Avon Storms. Love 'em, but I do want a set Pilot 2's.

    Hand guards

I called my local dealer to get a quote on the Vstrom guards and hardware as listed on War Childs website (https://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=30). The hand guards were only $18.00 each but the hardware cost $55.00 for a total of $91.00! Yikes  Surely there is cheaper...

2 months into the new bike...

Hey Wiz; I've got the same problem. Contacts for razor sharp vision, but I need readers at night. Doc says it's because at night your pupils are wider. I made a set bifocals from clear glasses. Here's a link to the product. About $7 anywhere that has a pharmacy or a selection of readers. CLICK...

    Riding jeans

They have the fit and quality a good pair of Levi's should have. Oh, you meant the guards! They attach with the elastic straps and Velcro® but they actually don't feel any different than socks. They don't have to be over tight. You get 'em for free when you order one of their products. I got...

Sticking brakes of pad change + new rotors

Just an idea, but, when it's all assembled, are the calipers stuffed to their limit? I mean are the rotors thicker and the pads making it jam? Are the rotors offset at all?

    Hand guards

I just put the V Strom guards on. Supremely solid! You may want to re-set the left side mount holes to make them fit the same on both sides. The left side has it's mounting holes set further out almost as though they were made for another bike.
