Searched and didn't find this specifically addressed. When my '05 is on the centerstand and in 1st gear, there is some noticeable 'clunking' around the shaft drive area. When you up the rpm, still in gear, it seems to lessen or disappear. Is driveshaft noise unde this condition/load normal for this bike?

Thanks,

Jack.

Don't do that.

Yes, normal. Bike isn't intended to run in gear on the centerstand. There is a certain amount of slop intentionally in the various gear interfaces. With no load the slop allows oscillation.

If they really kick up a fuss, that's sometimes an indication of the need for a TB sync. But even a perfectly tuned bike may buck on the centerstand in gear, so as has already been said, not something to worry about.

When the bike is on the road, it's designed so the output shaft and the drive shaft are close to straight.

When it's on the center stand, the rear swing arm is dropped. Probly not good to run it that way. :)

Even my chain-driven Ninja produces unpleasant and unusual sounds when run gently in first gear while on a rear stand. It means nothing.
