A less expensive alternative HERE that reads in tenths, although it would still require cutting. It's also 3 wire so no relay would be needed.

Obviously the malfunctioning lid is just a harbinger of bad things to come! Better unload that turkey before that happens. I'll give you $100 for your FJR, even though it is a GEN II. :)

Don't pay any attention to those guys. It sounds like a real interesting project. If you could find small 6 or 8 led bar graph displays it could be permanently mounted on the bike. Keep us posted on your project!

If you had an AM radio near the bike, you'd know if you didn't have a resistor there. As stated above, it's to subdue RFI (radio frequency interference).

I could make an FJr idle a lot more smoothly by simply adding a 40 pound fly wheel...

Previously trikes were sent from HD to a trike company. Now HD does all the assembly. I assume they buy the trike kits from a supplier, although I suppose they could fabricate them in-house. Unlike the real old days when the suicide shift tranny had a reverse gear, now they slap a ring gear...
