Arizona campgrounds

Gonna be doing a FJR camping trip from Florida to San Diego in May. Got the route mostly planned but seek recomendations for campgrounds in Arizona. KOA's are fine but would like to learn about some other options. Thanks, Bill

I am planning a trip from San Diego to Grand Canyon this weekend and was looking into camping in AZ. Take a look at: https://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/recreation/camping.html . There are some good low cost campgrounds on BLM land. You can even do "dispersed camping" for free.

FJR Bill, if you are riding from Florida to San Diego it would stand to reason that you are entering Arizona on Interstate 10 at San Simon on the East and crossing into The Land of Fruits and Nuts on Interstate 8 at Yuma.

Are you aware of just how damn hot it is going to be for camping out in Southern Arizona in May? Figure on 100F during the daylight hours and only cooling down to 80F at night. I would consider cheapo motels instead!

Tucson is a little bit better: May Lo-58.6°F Hi-90.4°F Now if you are crossing Arizona on Interstate 40 camping out makes more sense. If that is the case let we Zonies know and we will list up some N. AZ campsites.
