@Ross: Thanks for the thoughts, but bike is ~19K so no valve check in the last two years and no CCT replacement. If I was riding alone I suppose I could "wind it up" and/or ride the freeway in 3rd at higher rpm, that's just not an option with the cautious gal sitting behind me w/o...
