    Driveshaft and spline lubricant

I bought a container of Sta-Lube Red Premium Sta-Plex grease and lightly coated the splines. I also put a coat of ACF-50 on the shaft and when changing the rear tire at 50k looked at the splines and all is OK, no rust on the shaft and I now ride in complete peace of mind!!!   :)

    2016 Steering Problems

Unrelated to the head bearing torque but wheel bearings were mentioned. I have had three FJR's and never had wheel bearings repacked. My current 2014 has 51K miles and thee is no noticeable wheel bearing issues. Is it normal for FJR wheel bearings to need servicing??

Hwy 36 is good and Mad River Brewing has me good craft brewed beer. If you want a real tire profiler take hwy 96 from Willow Creek jct 299 all the way to I-5. You will not be disappointed!!  I have ridden many highly rated highways in the U.S. and in my opinion California is top of the list.

    End of an ERA

Well, Mac and I are in the same age bracket. In June I  too will enter 79. Knock on wood, I am not having any health issues that affect my riding. I do find the FJR more than a hand full manouvering at idle in and out of tight spots. A lot of that may have to do with being 5'9" tall and 145lbs...

    Above the Tracks!

Good video!!!  I've done the stretch from Kingman to Williams on route 66 where it will exists. Love to see those stack trains running parallel to rt66. I always stop in Seligman for a snack and observe tourists.

If you have not done it, try Hwy 35 from Hood River to Parkdale. There is a great photo op of Mt Hood with the pear orchards in the foreground. Very memorable.

I've ridden that road several times but never really viewed it in the same way as you. Actually i was going to guess hwy 120 in the foot hills before the approach to Yosemite National Park.  Very similar geography.

If you plan to ride the northern CA and Oregon coast plan to do it in September. The coast is often cold and foggy during the summer. plus the tourist traffic is a pain in the *** during the summer months. The Oregon coast is especially scenic.  As a side note; Burney Falls is not on the coast...
