    Rifle Shield for '06 Available

I just got an email from Rifle announcing their replacement windshield for the '06. You must install their "angle optimizers" to use their shield. https://www.rifle.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&...em_('06_-_)

Bike down part two, tuning a high performance suspension

After reading your post, it reminded me of one of my first impressions of my new '06 FJR. The additional weight (I also have a Ducati that weighs 150 pounds less) combined with a slight tendency to "fall into" turns faster than I was accustomed to was a little scary. In my case, I think this...

06 Heli Triple Clamp Ride Report

You need to accept the fact that you have an addiction ... that needs to be fed. That Russell sure does look comfortable, doesn't it?

Picked up my New FJR Yesterday!

Sounds like you got a fair shake on the trade-in. Expect only about a 1/2 inch difference from the middle to the back handlebar position. It does make a difference though. Best of luck with your new ride! You made a good choice.

    Adjustable fairing panels

This is the way Yamaha claims these should work. Open (the outward position) should direct more heat toward the rider.

    The Word from Yamaha

These tests seem to confirm Yamaha's claim "When the vents are OPEN (or OUT), more warm air will reach the rider. When the vents are CLOSED (or IN), less warm air will reach the rider."

    FJR 06" A COBALT BLUE

I read somewhere that the Nolan N102 in "Atlantic Blue" is a good match bit I haven't seen it myself. John

Where to find 2006 FJR A (not AE)

I used to own a 2001 bandit 1200S. The seating position was very roomy. I find that the '06 FJR in the low seat position is too cramped (seat to peg relationship) for my taste as compared to the Bandit. The higher position is much better/closer to the Bandit's seating relationship. I don't...

Want less heat and better performance too?

The '06 has a heated oxygen sensor. How do you deal with it when changing the entire exhaust?

    ST300 vs FJR....

This sounds like all the Honda dealers back in the 1970s. I'm sure, at least in my area, that this is the exception not the rule. These days, the Honda dealer is also the Yamaha dealer who is also the Kawasaki dealer ...

    Bag locks

No, he didn't charge me for the second set of locks. B)

    Bag locks

Evidently, my dealer never looked under the seat and thought the locks were missing. He ordered new locks from Yamaha and installed them. So, I got 2 sets of keys on delivery. Then, when looking for the tool kit, I find the real locks under the seat next to the tool kit.

    FJR linked brake impressions

The reason that you are not noticing any front end dive when using the rear brake pedal to trail brake is because the linked braking only becomes active with heavy pedal pressure. Light pressure only activates the rear brake. I had no idea that this was a feature of the '06 until I read a post...

    New FJR Guy in MS

Welcome, Bob. My first and only cruiser was a 2000 Vulcan 1500 Classic FI which I sold 18 months ago. Since then it's been sport-tourers, the latest an '06 FJR. Although I enjoyed the bike while I had it, I doubt I'll ever go back to a heavy cruiser like the Vulcan. Anyway, enjoy your new ride !

Moto Guzzi Norge 1200: First Ride Report

If I didn't already have an Italian bike (Ducati) and all the idiosycracies that go with it, I would have considered the Norge over the FJR. But, for its intended purpose (sport-touring with the emphasis on touring), I think the FJR is a better choice (for me anyway).

    The Word from Yamaha

If this is something the dealer had to install properly, then I better check mine.

    Gotta make the wife happy

The only thing that comes to mind regarding the SSN is that the deal may be predicated upon you financing part or all of the purchase through the dealer (more revenue for them). In this case, they need your SSN to do a credit check to see if you're worthy of a loan.

    Side Case on 2006 FJR

The mounting instructions for mine were still in the sealed bag inside one of the saddlebags when I took delivery. And, this was the first '06 FJR the dealer had received this year.

    06 Mirriors

Hmm ... both of my gromets stick out but only the right mirror vibrates. By "stick out" do you mean that the gromets should not be at all visible from the outside (IE: the mirror stalks mount flush to the fairing)?

    The Word from Yamaha

I wonder if the Holeshot 4 into 2 header would help with this heat? Aside from the construction which claims to reduce heat, it may also re-route the pipes somewhat away from this area.
