    Fjr AS automatic transmission

The clicking/jerking clutch action in first gear is because of incomplete bleeding of the clutch fluid. The computer control of the clutch actuator is very sensitive for position of the clutch slave piston. The service manual specifies a complex procedure for bleeding that requires swing arm...

    2019 tire change problem

It’s a good idea to clean the metallic dirt from the ABS sensor when you change the tire. The particles can interfere with proper operation. Also do not let the sensor touch metal.

2007 AE Has a low piston 4 pressure

Ring free is a very good suggestion, along with an Italian tuneup - put some miles on it at speed. That bike has been sitting around in storage and hasn’t been ridden much. Issues to check for are ignition switch and ground spiders.

    Shaft Servicing Duration

I put 45,000 miles on a Seca Turbo in 40 years. The only shaft maintenance was changing the rear pumpkin fluid on rare occasions. Yamaha knows how to build reliable shaft drives.

    Shaft Servicing Duration

88,000 miles on my 2006 FJR1300, no maintenance on universal joint. I do change the fluid in the pumpkin, and I have greased the driveshaft splines (once) and pumpkin gear when I change tires.

    KrZy8 Gen2 - Charging Circuit

A follow up on the Roadstercycle super harness. The shortstop 30 amp circuit breaker failed. It would cycle on and off after the bike was running for a few minutes, causing poor charging and low battery voltage. I see now that Roadstercycle uses a 50 amp shortstop in their FJR kit. The 30 amp...

    Slipper Clutch questions.

My slipping clutch was not fixed with new friction plates and spring, or oil change. It was fixed with a new slave cylinder. FJR clutches are very robust. I would measure your friction plates before replacing them.

    Ticking sound after valve adjustment

At a minimum, measure the valve clearance again.

    Ticking sound after valve adjustment

You are right, but this may be the start of a problem. Ten years old and tensioner spring was cycled, and now it’s making noise.

    Ticking sound after valve adjustment

I would put a new upgraded cam chain tensioner in it. It seems that those old tensioners fail after valve adjustment when the spring gets released and compressed.

need help, FJR won't start, don't hear the fuel pump when putting contact on

We speak a strange Sout style dialect. A couple two tree…..means more than one. Dees, dem does means these, them those.

need help, FJR won't start, don't hear the fuel pump when putting contact on

I work with a colleague from Belgium. She impresses me because she’s fluent in 6 languages. I barely speak English. :)

    ABS Issue

I couldn’t find error code 30 in my service manual (2006-2007), but googling says it’s a problem with the tip over sensor.

    ABS Issue

When you rode the bike, were you able to activate the ABS and feel the pulsing in the brake lever and brake pedal? That’s the only way to know the ABS is working.

    ABS Issue

Yes, clean the sensors because the magnets pick up iron dust and that can interfere with the signals. Also check for any stored ABS error codes. Good luck.

    ABS Issue

According to the service manual, if the ABS light flashes while riding, there is no problem with the function of the ABS. However, the ABS ECU input has unstable factors. The only good news is that Yamaha claims that the brakes work normally when the AbS fails.

Gen II ECU reflash by Ivan

Now with around 15,000 more miles on Ivan’s flash and an update. Still running 87 octane gas without any pinging or problems. Spark plugs don’t show much color on them, but no signs of detonation. Engine still runs great at any rpm or throttle. Excellent gas mileage 45+mpg. Easy to manage rpm at...

    Front brake pad pins

Besides Freeze Off spray penetrant, use a hand impact driver. The hammer blows loosen the bond and help to prevent rounding off the head of bolts...
